God is spirit, a being, not a man, woman, or anything like that. He did come down to earth in the form of a man (Jesus Christ). That is called the Incarnation of Christ, when, retaining His divine nature, He took to Himself a human nature, that is, a body and soul like ours.

Mary Jo is exacly right. As for the chimps with feelings I'm thinking along these lines: God created animals to be company for humans, right? And he probably gave them emotions (like a happy dog, or a scared cat) so that they'd be better company. I mean, who wants to hang out with a shrimp all day! :) When you have a dog you can tell that he loves you, making you care about it even more.

I even think animals go to heaven, because the Bible does say there will be animals in heaven, like the lion and the lamb.

Animals don't have souls, so they don't go to Heaven.

Um...don't get angry, but...how do you all know whether or not animals go to Heaven or whether they have souls? None of us have ever gone up to an animal and said, 'Excuse me, you don't have a soul, do you?'

Okay, I'm getting sarcastic again. Sorry if this was negative. Everyone has a right to believe what they want.

You're not getting sarcastic, Lena.  I agree with you fully. :)

Why don't they have souls?  Do humans even have souls (okay, I know your answer, but seriously!)?  If so, how do you know FOR CERTAIN that we do?

Okay, anyway, this is a thread that is (I forgot!) about aliens.  So I think we should continue along those lines.  I'm such a hypocrite. :)

Bella, if you have access to the Bible, could you read the first few pages of Genesis?  It mentions something about the animals.

I would, but I don't have access to a Bible, unfortunately.  Hmmm . . .

I know this isn't about aliens, but it seems like the best place to post it, because you just mentioned the Bible...

I know many Christians don't believe in astrology, but what did the wise men follow? a star! And many scientists agree that it was probably an overlap of two stars, venus, which represents love, and mars, which represents power. So together, they represented overpowering love, exactly what Jesus is all about.

Also, I'm sure there's a line in Genesis that says something along the lines of "and then God made the stars and the heavens, and the signs under which everything would happen..."

So can't they overlap? Astrology isn't necessarily Pagan any more than marbles are Christian or phones are Jewish or clouds are Muslim or books are Bhuddist! For heavens sake, thats ridiculous!

The same goes for aliens, and science, and climate change, and magic (NOT magick, that spelling sickens me, no, good old magic like that of storybook characters and, well, God!), and organic food, and peace... The lists go on and on!  I identify wholly with the Christian faith, but not with what some "Christians" have done to it. They have drawn a box around it and proclaimed that you are either in it or out of it and anyone out of it is wrong.

I think that Jesus taught Love, but his modern day followers have gotten too wrapped up in the details. If a religion teaches love, can't you find common ground with them?  And any enemies that make sense for you to have would be ones that teach hate. And really, what religion is there that dosn't, in the end, have a message of love?

So that is my religion spiel. Hope I didn't offend anybuggy off the Chatterbox, but I love to get feedback/opinions... :)

That's interesting. What I'm thinking is that the problem with astrology things is that once you start believing in horoscopes, and all the other superstitious things, you begin to lose faith. I think God COULD use it as a sign, or something else to make people believe, but it shouldn't be something that you act like is a religion, or use to make decisions. God can tell you he's real, he doesn't need to use stars.

I think that would basically be violating the first commandment, right?

What do you think?

Well, you could maybe find one online, but that might be a bad idea anyway, because it is soooo easy to misunderstand the Bible.
