Chatterbox: Down to Earth

This actually isn't

This actually isn't intended to be posted, this is just the most direct way I know of talking with the GAPA! This is mostly for the Admin I talked to that one time about Italy, though I'm sure any of you would be interested.

Anyway, I just got back from my trip to Italy and Greece that I told you about a long time ago! It was so great. I can't begin to describe it at all, because there's just way too much to say! People to People is such a wonderful organization, and they really do plan the greatest trips and with the greatest activites. Our delegation manager, who was our leader from Europe who basically planned most of the trip, is actually the sweetest person I've ever met, and she worked so hard to make sure I got vegan food everywhere. And oh my gosh, the food was incredible! At our first meal we had in Greece, we all took a bite of the bread, then couldn't stop ranting about how heavenly it was. Almost all of the food there is so much more delicious and whole and real than anything you can get in America. I never liked tomatoes or eggplant or zuchinni or espresso until this trip, and now I could live off all of them (well, maybe not the eggplant..). As far as the educational aspect of the program, I actually learned so much more about the history and culture than I had expected to. The name of the trip is "Modern and Ancient Civilizations", and it really did work to focus on both the modern and the ancient. I feel like such a different person now too. All I want to do is go out and explore the world! I love the excitement of being away from home (I never did miss my family or get homesick..) and being in a foreign country. I feel so independent now too, and much more confident in myself than I used to. This trip was literally the greatest experience of my life, and I'd give anything just to be back there right now with my delegation.

Ciao!

Paige, it's so good to hear from you! Your trip sounds like a life-changing experience. How fortunate you were to have such an opportunity. I know what you mean about plain, wholesome, fresh food. Thanks for writing in. Others will be interested to hear from you. Ciao!

That sounds awesome!  I hope to go to Italy one day, but the closest I've been is the Italy pavilion in Epcot.
