Chatterbox: Down to Earth

 AAAAAH

AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I know that it's only the second day of summer, but it is scorching hot! The heat is driving my family CRAZY! Last year, Texas got a HUGE drought. Has anyone else experienced it? Anyway,we are pretty sure that we will get another drought. Anyone have tips or ideas on how to stay cool or beat the heat?

It's been unusually hot and dry in Illinois, too. Ways we try to beat the heat:

Stay out of the sun.

Stay in air-conditioning or by a fan.

Run errands after the sun sets.

Go swimming whenever possible. Wear a wet bathing suit.

Drink lots of water.

Avoid using the oven.

Avoid exertion during the hottest part of the day. Take a walk in the evening.

Wait for a cold front and rain to arrive!

It often gets hot where I live, and we're just at the end of a ten-year drought, I think. All the ones the admin said are really good. Plus having loads of ice cream.

Tobi says rmeb. Remember?

It's really hot here, but the humidity is horrible.  The auditorium I spend most of my time in is often hotter than outside, so I'm really loving air conditioning right now.  I hate how in New England it can be really freezing in the winter and super hot in the summer.

That's the way in Illinois, too, but I like the change of seasons, if not the extremes.

In my home in California we have 100+ temperatures every day, but today it is 70-ish. Tips to beat the heat: Don't use the dryer in the middle of the day. Buy a ton of lemonade to drink (I practically live off lemonade). Wear T-shirts and shorts everyday. Eat a lot of cold watermelon. Turn on your fans and keep the a/c down (fans use less energy). Have water gun fights with friends. Turn on the sprinklers and run around in them. Good luck on staying cool!

It was so gross and humid on Friday and I had the bright idea to wear a cardigan. :/ I almost died in Quebec last week as well. Try walking around for 5 hours in the hot sun with only one, half-full water bottle. (But at the end of one day, a lady in a Coke shirt came with a cooler full of Cokes and gave them out for free, bless her soul.)

Winters here are cold and snowy, fall is either rainy, coldish or nice, Spring is rainy and sort of warm and Summer can be so hot! It rained yesterday but for the last few weeks it's been really, really hot (and humid)! I hate sitting in school with no air-conditioning while the heat just seeps in. -.-

Anyway, my tips (which most people have said already but I'll write them down anyway):

- Drink lots of water or other cold drinks. Water is the best though.

- Get wet! Go to the pool, take a cool shower or just dump a bucket of water over your head.

- Wear shorts and tanktops or T-Shirts that are made from light material. You can also walk around in a bikini/bathing suit when you're at home. (It helps!)

- Don't bake! :)

- Find a cool area to read/do homework/write...

- Eat cold watermelon! :D

It's hot everywhere.  Seriously.

And Colorado is having a serious drought.  We have ten Wildfires.

My suggestions?  Stay inside. >.<  With the AC.

I know what you mean. It's been over 100 degrees everyday ! The other day, it was 110. I live in Central Texas, so imagine those in South Texas..........

Dang I hate the heat ! It is entirely too hot !!!! It's even too hot to swim ! Hah

My house doesn't have good AC, so on a 110 degree day, all you can do is lay down and eat sno-cones.... I find that laying on the bare floor helps....

The temperature here is being weird.  Sometimes, it decides to be really hot, where air conditioning is a blessing.  Then, other times, it decides to be rainy and it barely gets over 70F.  Today, it's supposed to be in the 90s by the afternoon, but it was cold and rainy just this morning.  At least there's a nice sea breeze if you go to the beach.  Unfortunately, I'm inland.  The beach is the next city over.

Cannot stress enough how much I hate hot weather. Thankfully it has been pretty mild here in Washington, as usual. We all say, "more sun! More sun!" But really I am glad we don't have to deal with the sweltering heat. I think that one week that one summer when we had 100+ weather scarred me for life. (We have no a/c.)

It's really hot right now. I hate hot weather except when I'm able to go to the pool. Then it's okay. :)

Much of the USA is sweltering, too. And Colorado and some other states, too, dealing with terrible wildfires.

1. Stay on the sofa and read a good book (preferably Tolkein)

2. Sorbet>ice cream

3. Shorts and preferably tank top

4. Electric not hand fan

5. Ignore "need to get outside"ness

6. Swim if can't ignore above

7. Don't wear sneakers or shoes that require socks.

Hope this helps!
