/Slightly/ dead? *raises eyebrows* *did not just start thinking about Vetinari when she said that... no...*
Because, well, to quote Ima:
"CriReaRec was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that.
Old CriReaRec was dead as a door-nail.
Mind! I don't mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the country's done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that CriReaRec was dead as a door-nail.
We knew he was dead? Of course we did. How could it be otherwise? Many of us were many of its users for I don't know how many years. We were its sole executioners, our administrators its sole administrators, we its sole reading assigns (though perhaps the word 'assign' is slight exaggeration...), its sole RL, its sole friends, and sole mourners.
The webmaster or whoever is in charge of such things never took CriReRec away. There it stands, years afterwards in Old Cricket's Library: Cricket Readers Recommend. But there is no doubt that it is dead."
But as soon as someone submits a comment, it will be active again!

@Admin: Well, of course. But speaking from my own experience, I would say that if something is so dead people just don't bother with it. So it becomes deader. 'Tis a VICIOUS CYCLE OF VICIOUSNESS!

Wow... Ok... The thing is people submit new books every few days but I guess no one notices that... Oh and your "speech" :) confused me slightly...

It's a reference to A Christmas Carol by Dickens. Look it up on Google Books and read the beginning; it will definitely make much more sense to you.
I go to CriReaRec occasionally, but not often. I think I'll go today.
I'm not sure why people don't post much there, but I expect it has something to do with the fact that BaB can be used for the exact same thing and more.

ZNZ is making a reference to A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. It begins with "Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that." She has humorously changed some of the words to apply more to Cricket Readers Recommend.
I think CRR is mostly used by people who read the magazine, but don't use the CB, and are looking to submit a book review online, while BaB is used more by CB posters looking for discussion.

I didn't do it! I was quoting Ima on another thread. So, credit where credit is due.

Sorry. :)

Oh, well... I hope it becomes "alive" again! :)

Plus, the CB took over anyway!
Andy P.C. say= bowg- What, is it Bowgus that CRR is dead?????
CRR is still open for business on this Web site. And we also accept CRR via US mail and e-mail.

Oh, thats cool
I know, but when you first get on the site, you see CB, not CRR. It is still running, but its mostly dead...
(March 7, 2011 - 12:15 pm)
Er, that's not true at all. If you go to the homepage, cricketmagkids.com, then no, you don't see the CB. There's a link to it, yes, but also to CRR. Maybe you're thinking of the CB page, but it's rather obvious that the CB is the first thing you see there.

ZNZ, in the Jan 2011 issue CRR in the mag I saw that a ZNZ recommended The Last Dragon book. Was that you???
(March 7, 2011 - 7:59 pm)
Oh, I saw that too! I believe that was ZNZ. Congrats on getting into the magazine, ZNZ!!
