Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Admins, my brother brought this up a few day's ago. He saw me on here and said, "Wow, that is the weirdest forum I have ever seen. Why don't they use normal forum software?"

Now I'm curious - what influenced the decision for the Chatterbox to be laid out the way it is? I like it well enough, except for the difficulty in finding any given old thread, but I'm curious.

Everybuggy was so excited to create a Web site for Cricket readers. Here in Cricket Country, we're not the most experienced web designers, but with the help of Tater's brains and Cricket's hard work (and plenty of bossiness from Ladybug), we managed.
