HI! I am yet another person doing Grace's Great Idea! I am an eighth-grade, homeschooling Iowan, for those of you who have been wondering where I'm actually from (since it's obviously not really a magic carpet :D:D:D).
I love to swim (but I'm not very good at it), bike, read, TALK, go to the library, scrapbook, read, have fun with my friends, write (but never finish :( ) fantasy stories, have parties, and read. Oh, I almost forgot. I LOVE acting, too. However, I have only recently found the courage to audition, as some of you may know. Hee, hee.
You would see more of me on this site if I was not confined to Wednesdays and Saturdays on Cricket. Weeby.
There is something in Iowa called the Iowa Homeschool Communication Extravaganza. It is a competition sort of thing where you can enter different categories such as posters, presentations, poems, essays... and it happens in March/February. I will gladly tell you more about this event if asked!! Does anyone else out there have anything like this in their state, and has anyone else ever participated in the ICHE, if an Iowan?
ARE THERE EVEN ANY OTHER IOWANS AROUND HERE?!?!
No offense to anybuggy who isn't.

I've always wondered what people from Iowa were called. Now I know! :):):) Sorry, I'm obviously not from Iowa, and I don't think I've ever been there. :(:(:( About the extravaganza thingy, no we don't, but every year, my mommy and I go to the Homeschoolers of Maine convention, and they have these brochures for a statewide (actually, I think that it's all over New England!) poetry/art/writing contest. It sounds intresting, and I think that I'll send them a copy of my tiger picture next year. :):):):)

Cool! What are people from Maine called?
(December 6, 2008 - 3:30 pm)
I know the answer to your question, Brynne! They are called Mainers and Down Easters. (That's as in the direction east, not the holiday.)
(December 7, 2008 - 12:18 am)
Wow, Old Cricket- you really DO know a lot! I love all the wise and amazing things you say in the back of Cricket.
(December 7, 2008 - 11:47 am)
Thank you, Old Cricket!! But, in Mainer accent, we're considered Mainahs'. :):):) The key to Mainah' language is you leave off "r's" where they should be, and put them where the shouldn't. "On Eastah' we sawr lobsta'." :):):) If you watch Surivor, Bob, the physics teacher at my brother's school, talks like a complete Mainah'. I'm from Florida, though, so I don't talk like one. :):):):)

When I was in Our Town at our theater, we were supposed to be from New Hampshire, so we had to learn the accent. Some of the things we used were recordings of an old comedy show, with Mainer accent! It was a little weird but really funny, with things such as "Buht an' I weh' ouut fishin" and other ones. It must be so great to live among all those great accents! :D

Yeah, they're pretty awesome (in a hick sort of way!). Sadly, since I've lived here most of my life, I've gotten used to it, so I don't really notice it. My "friend"'s Gram (not Grandma, just Gram....) has a wicked Mainah' accent, though, that anybuggy, Mainah' or not, could identify. She's so funny! :):):):) Mr. Crowley, on Survivor, has the BEST Mainah' accent!!!!!!! The thing I don't like is that there are a few things that people think of when they think of Maine. That's okay, but the problem is, they're the only things that they think of. Most people don't even know that Maine's a state (I'm serious, people don't.....)!!!!!!!!! :(:(:(:( Everybuggy thinks of lobsta', lighthouses, moose (always moose), old men in gas stations that don't give directions, but tell you that you can't get there from here, blueberries, moose, maple syrup, cranky old fishermen in the rain with yellow rain jackets, moose, etc. There's SO much more to Maine than that, ummm, such as, ummmmm, err, moose...... :):):):)

Oh, since so many people are talking about evil plots, I think I'll reveal mine... *Puts on innocent grin*
"Dania P. hasn't said anything in a while."
*Grins innocently*

AHHHHHHH!!!!!! 2nd EVIL PLOT SCARED ME!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D I was wondering what happened to her...... She was so real! That's sort of sad......
I won't reveal mine for a looooong time...... :D:D:D:D:D

You're from FL? COOL! I think I'm the only Floridian on this site, besides one other person I saw once. Don't know who. Anyway, what part of Florida are you from? When did you move to main?
(December 15, 2008 - 3:30 pm)
._. ._. ._. ._. I typed a HUGE long answer, but the computer froze and I lost it!!!! :(:( I have to go, so I'll be quick.
Yes, I'm a Floridian. (Mainahs call me a 'Florider'...) The other girl was SARAH V. I was born in Jacksonville (and am still a die-hard Jaguars fan). I moved the day I turned two, so that would be in the summer of 1998.
I would tell you more, but I have to go! I'm going outside in the snow!!! Oh, sorry, I forgot you don't have snow!!!!! :[ :[ :[ :[)

(Just kidding about the eye-narrowing part.) :D
