Help
So as some of you may know, I REALLY want to be an animator or an author. But there's only one problem.
My parents would rather me be something else.
I want to impress my parents and make them proud, but I feel like if they don't like my dreams I can't have them. I don't know what to do! Is someone going through something somewhat similar, cuz I need help.

I think being an animator or an author is an amazing idea! But I sorta can see why your parents think that way. They probabaly want to make sure that you can fully depend on your job for a living, and maybe they think that being an animator/author is not the most consistent job.
If you took offense from what I just said, I really didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Your parents are worried about you, but I am confident that you will suceed in whatever field you choose. It's a difficult decision, but you live to please yourself, not your parents. So what if they're "disappointed"? As long as you are happy with your lifestyle, there really is no reason to change it. Pave your own path.
Gosh I'm starting to sound like the five dozen motivational posters my math teacher has on the wall.
Zoba, you are so talented at art and writing. I won't say who's right or who's wrong because there is no right or wrong in this situation. Think about it, and maybe talk to your parents. I've been there. It's ok to say no.

You could try gathering the facts about why it's possible to have a stable job as an animator or author (for author, you get a steady income from every sale of your book, more if you have more books). I agree that you need to choose your own path, but I think at least trying to get your parents on board with it is a good idea. If it doesn't work, then they probably will agree when you can prove to them that with that job, you have a steady income and are good at writing or animating .

Another thing you could do, if you ever needed to (and you can tell your parents this) is get a part-time job somewhere for money, especially one that isn't really involved. For instance, in a bookstore or other retail setting, especially if you'd like to be an author; and it'd provide information for your books/animations, if you're a people-watcher.

Dude, you and I are in the same type of situation. I really wanna be an actress, fashion designer, author, animator (for videos for songs I really like... I'm tryin' to work on "Paranoid"), singer, songwriter, dancer, and a content creator, but my parents aren't totally on board with my plans.
I think it's 'cause I haven't told them the reason I want to be famous: I want to make them proud as well. I want to be known for somethin', so that every time they look at me, they view me as somebody who can do somethine. But they want me to be a doctor or a dentist or a construction worker. I feel like my parents care more 'bout if I make a lot of money than if I'm happy with my job or not. I'd rather be poor and do what I love than be rich and doin' what I DON'T love.
Maybe you can talk to your parents 'bout how you feel. Maybe you can get a job and do animation and writin' on the side, at least until you get a followin'. Whatever you decide to do, we'll support you <3

Thank y'all so much. I never thought that they'd just want me to be stable. Maybe because I already explained my whole plan, but yeah. I'll talk to them and I'll also listen to their concerns. I guess what I'm really concerned about is the fact that they think it's all so weird and stupid. Like, I explained the story I want to make to them and they kept saying, "That's... cool... Is it supposed to be that strange?" So that's my new problem. -_-
