Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

(Re)introduction!

(Re)introduction!

Ahoy, my fellow CBers! Wolfy here, but not for much longer. Way back in April of 2021, I made my first post, in which I introduced myself as Wolfy_Walker_7 and offended English teachers everywhere with the quality of my writing. After three years (!) of relative inactivity dotted with fervent spells of posting, I’ve decided to change my name to Zeta Lupi. It’s more memorable and still sufficiently wolf-themed, with a touch of astronomy.

Second item! Due to the aforementioned Chatterbox-ghosting, I think it’s high time for a little re-introduction. Hey people! I’m Zeta Lupi, but you can call me Zeta. I use she/her pronouns, I’m 15 years old, and I still offend teachers everywhere, albeit with mad ramblings rather than egregious misuse of the English language. My interests include biology/ecology/whatever you learn in Living Environment, vampires, infectious disease, and Little Shop of Horrors. I am forever in awe of nature, though I don’t get out very often. My favorite bands are Rustic Overtones (Maine indie rock! Highly recommend!) and Red Hot Chili Peppers - I am essentially a middle-aged man. I am a massive nerd and thoroughly enjoy reading (which I don’t do enough) and writing (especially trite hopeless romantic poetry), memorizing pi, and quiz bowl (does anyone else here do that?), as well as discussing light topics such as the meaning of life and just learning in general. Now that I look back on this half-essay, I realize that I am what the kids call “a professional yapper.” Feel free to induce some of that - I’d love to converse with y’all about anything mentioned here and more. Laughter is the best medicine; don’t take me (or yourself) too seriously. Love ya guys!

Hello, Zeta Lupi! :) nice to meet you (again?) What do you like reading? And can we call you Zeta for short?

I have a soft spot for ye olde youth literature - Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, etc. In a similar vein, I'm into historical fiction, but I'll read anything that catches my eye. Honestly though, I've been in a reading slump as of late. Yes, you can absolutely call me Zeta for short! And nice to meet you, too - I've definitely read you around, but I don't think we've actually interacted.

Hi Zeta Lupi!!! What does your name mean btw? Just curious. :) lupi... like lupus?? I'll kinda miss your old name -- I thought it was actually very memorable! I liked that it was like a wolf, normally thought of as a fierce and ferocious animal, with a "y" at the end, which you (you being people in general) sort of use when you think something is cute (e.g. kitten --> kitty; dog --> doggy; bird --> birdy), I think. Which was great! :D but your new name is pretty cool as well! Idk if we've ever met officially (or ever met/interacted at all!), but it's great to see you and hello officially!!

I know I've already said this, but thank you again for inadvertently helping me memorize digits # 4-7 of pi and starting me on my pi journey (I mean I eventually gave up at 3.141592653589793238462 (I think that's right...), but still!). Btw, I say this because I was reading the cricket letterbox in one of the mags this past pi day and your pi rant got in and you said something like how "3.14159" sounded like a song and suddenly where I only knew 3.14, the 159 came mentally marching after in my head!! And then you said some random tv show added on the "2", and so that's why there's a break in the rhythm before the 2, and suddenly the 2 would mentally march past after a pause in my head too!! Or two ;) or while we're on puns, mentally March. Because, y'know, pi day is in March? Yup. Dad jokes. A free service I offer (not me quoting the sign my dad loves).
um. That got off topic. I'm very much a "professional yapper" too :D I loveeeee tangents >:D and overusing literally everything on the keyboard.
soo I could keep ranting about your pi rant (I think I remember actually all of it which is... kinda scary) but just yup! Really inspired me! And thank you @admins/editors for choosing to put that in!
I'm in the same boat with you about the offending teachers with mad ramblings thing. It's been a problem ever since at least 1st grade. I've always loved writing, way too much, and grammar and spelling and words and stuff like that (my grammar/stuff may not be the best in this post bc I'm rushing bc I should be sleeping bc finals tomorrow and also I'm tired and ACK). Blame my dad. He exposed me to this stuff as a little kid! :D we're both bookworm and word nerds and tellers of dad jokes, so. Um. But as I've said. Tangents. Anyways yeah once when I was in 4th grade, the teacher gave us 9 prompts and told us to pick one and write a page using it and me being me I combined all 9 prompts and wrote a 7-page story XDD
I really have to go even though I had so much more to say so no rereading the post bye!!! :D

Hey Celine! Thanks - I also liked my old name, but this one feels sharper, and there are a whole lot of wolf-adjacent names on the CB already, so I wanted to differentiate myself a little bit. As for the meaning, Zeta Lupi is the name of a star in Lupus (the wolf constellation), and I wanted to nod to my old name, the stars, and my real name (which starts with a Z) at once. Hello-officially to you, too!

Oh my gosh, the pi rant- I think I forgot to renew my subscription, so I've never actually seen it in print, but it was an honor to make it into the magazine with something like that, and even more of an honor to hear that I've jump-started your "pi journey!" Seriously, that's something I'm incredibly enthusiastic about, and it's so touching that I've inspired you (and also super awesome that I'm spreading the math nerd adgenda >=D). Aww, I feel like an old people... Anyway @the powers that be I am also immensely grateful.

Gotta love dad jokes! And writing! And overusing keyboards! By the way, if you ever do want to "say" the zillion things inside your head, I would be glad to "listen." Thank you for taking the time to write so much to me, it means a lot. Read ya around!

Hi, welcome back! I remember you, I think we overlapped a bit (I think, I'm not 100% certain) Great to see you around again! Laughter is absolutely the best medicine, and nothing should be taken too seriously :D Though I'd like to say that if nothing should be taken seriously, should we not take seriously the fact that nothing should be taken seriously? If so, then things should be taken seriously, and we start going around and around. Anyway, I'll look around to reading you :)

Ah, the wonders of paradox! Yeah, if you've been around in the past few years, then we've definitely overlapped, but I've kind of been stalking the threads rather than posting haha. I shall likewise look forward to reading you (I love that expression)!
