New CBers

I noticed we've had a few new CBers join, so I thought it'd help to make this thread. This is mostly a place for new CBers to meet here, but also a place for older CBers to answer questions.

I think we'll count new CBers as anyone who has joined in the last three months. Here's a link to our super-helpful Ulitmage Guide to get newbies started: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/chirpatcricket/node/443573

And let me introduce myself! I'm Peri (she/her) and ironically I am not at all a new CBer. I've been here three years. I love music, reading, writing, and theater. I got the idea to make this thread because when I joined, there was a thread just like it created by Pangolin. I was able to introduce myself there, and Pangolin is still a close friend of mine on here!

New CBers (and those of you who've been here a while like me), please feel free to introduce yourself here and ask questions. Have fun!

Hello, I'm Zealatom, a rather old CBer dating back to 2019-ish times, though I actually joined with some other names even before that. I'm not really active in all the sections now- I'm too busy dealing with high school, homework and keeping my very slow solo write in Inkwell going(feel free to join). My other, less used name is Ultimatum.

I can't draw very well- I'm better at prose and poetry, though I haven't written the latter for half a year. Currently I'm studying German because I would like to head to germany for university, and I also speak mandarin, english (evidently) and can read and understand French. I love music and musicals (mostly german and french ones) and reading books from Neil Gaiman and various other authors.

Also, I'm probably the only CBer permanently situated at the eastern side of the world, which means to most of you I post regularly in the wee hours of the morning and at midnight. Cheers. I hope you all enjoy the wonderful CB!

Hey Zeal! Good to see you around :) I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations for French musicals to watch? I'm learning French, so I'm avidly listening to/watching everything I can in French, to get a better grasp of it. I don't like horror, but if you know of any other musicals that are of other genres, I'd be very interested!

Lol you really surprised me with the revelation that you're Ultimatum... I had no idea, and it just hit me this morning that if you're Ultimatum, then you were the one who submitted the character of Albine for my solo write back in June of last year, and I never even knew! (Thanks for participating in the solo write, btw :) )

Hi there Poinsettia, good to see you too! Yes I was Ultimatum, haha. There are a lot of great musicals out there- the french are lovers of art in all forms. I'd recommend(In fact, I have yet to discover anything horror-related in french yet):

- 1789:Les Amants de La Bastille (The Lovers of The Bastille) (about the french revolution)

- Le Rouge et Le Noir (The Red and The Black)

- Mozart-L'Opera Rock (not sure about the translation here, sorry, but as anyone can plainly see it's about Mozart)

- Le Fantome de L'Opera (The Phantom of the Opera)

- La Legende du Roi Arthur (The Legend of King Arthur) (yes, the english one XD)

That's all I can think of for now! The Red and The Black and The Phantom of the Opera both come from their according paperback novels, so you can also check out the books after watching the musicals. There's an entire sea of french literature out there to enjoy. I'm currently working my way through Dumas's The Three Musketeers trilogy...

Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in forever! Part of that is probably accounted for by the fact that I didn't know you were Ultimatum, haha. Anyway, hi!

Hi Zeta! (Is it ok if I call you Zeta?) Yeah, I don't have the time to be very active on the CB nowadays, but I'm always present, just ghosting around, reading the recent threads and popping in to say things under both names every once in a while when the occasion shows. Hope you have a good day <3

Hey! I'm starry sky (she/her) and I joined a little over a year ago, but I haven't been very active until recently...and I'm still not *super* active, but I really love this community and reading the threads and things like that! I  love writing too--I might share some stories I'm working on soon, idk. And I'm a great person to vent to about friends or school or crushes or literally anything lol :)

Hi, I'm Cloud Bunny! I go by pronouns they/them.

I’m Sempreverde! I’m still fairly new, as I joined at the end of January 2024, but I was actually here a while ago under a different name, which is why I already knew a lot about the CB. My pronouns are she/her, I play violin and clarinet, and I’m an avid reader. My favorite genre of music is classical, especially Dvorak and Prokofiev (whom I recommend, by the way). I speak Italian and English, can understand and read French, and I’m learning Japanese. Currently I’m living in Lugano, Switzerland for a sabbatical, so like Zealatom I’m in a different time zone, but my hometown is Seattle. My name, Sempreverde, means “Evergreen” in Italian, and my nickname is Verde.

Hey! I'm not sure if I count as a "new" CBer, per se, because I used to be on here like 3 or 4 years back, but I don't know how much has changed! It's super fun and nostalic to be back, though. Not positive that I'll be on here suepr often, but I'll try to post occasinally at least.

I'm a writer and artist, burgeoning historian, and lover of all things creative. My favorite song right now has got to be I'll Be On My Way (a choir song arranged by Shawn Kirchner) and I think that saying what book I'm currently reading is usually easier for me than struggling to find a favorite, so right now I'm reading Longstreet by Elizabeth Varon!

I hope to thoroughly enjoy becoming a CBer again, and I'm sure I will!

Hi, Wreeboo!! I've seen your name around before (it's super familiar from old threads :) ), and it's great to have you back!! I looked up Longstreet, and it sounds really interesting (wait does that sound just polite? No, like, it really does sound very interesting! Thank you for mentioning it, I'll have to see if I can check it out later!)! If you like history books, I'd recommend The Library Book by Susan Orleans! It's the story of the 1987 Los Angeles Central Library fire -- the biggest library fire in US history -- and all the really crazy stuff surrounding that!

Welcome back again, and hope to see (read) you around more!

Thanks, it's great to be back! I just looked up the Library Book and it looks like an amazing read! I'll have to add it to my TBR!

I've read it, too, and found it very interesting!

Wreboo!! Whoa, it's amazing to see you around again! I'm much more recent than you, but I've seen your name a lot in old threads, and it's great to have you back :) I don't think too much has changed - the CB is essentially still a super caring, fun community where you can be quirky and write anything and be hilarious. Hope to read you around!!
