@pangolin

Hey! Here's our chat thread. Um... I guess I'll introduce myself a little bit. My CB name, as you know, is WildWolf, and I use She/Her pronouns. I love to read and write, and sing in choir. I have three younger siblings who are crazy, but also really sweet.

What are some of your favourite books? Some of my favourite things to read are KotLC, Harry Potter, (I didn't like it for a while but now am re-reading it and am into it again), the Cricket mag, Gordon Korman, A Place to Hang the Moon, and Front Desk.

Do have any favourite movies/tv shows? Some of mine: Barbie, Star Wars, and Owl House.

Oh yeah, and my captcha is Addie. She talks like this:/Hi!/ Today she says /eyeax/  hm. Okay.  Anyway, thanks for doing this! I can't wait to get to know you!

hi, WildWolf! i'm excited to talk to you! :D i'm pangolin, as you know, and i use she/they pronouns :) i also love to read and write! mainly fantasy on both counts--do you have a favorite genre to read/write? and i have a younger sister. :)

it's so cool that you sing in choir!! what's that like?

of all the books you mentioned, i've only read Harry Potter and the Cricket mag! i'll check out those other books :) do you have a favorite Harry Potter character? i'm partial to Luna Lovegood myself :)

some of my favorite books are The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, Six of Crows/Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo, the Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend (can't wait for book four!), The Oxford Time Travel Series by Connie Willis, and Vicious by V.E. Schwab. :D

ooh i love The Owl House!! it's definitely one of my favorite shows! do you have a favorite character? i also love Star Wars and the Barbie movie :D aside from The Owl House, some of my favorite shows are Amphibia and Over the Garden Wall, which i think are pretty similar to The Owl House! i think you might like them, if you want to check them out :) my favorite movie is probably The Princess Bride, or maybe The Goonies :)

hi, Addie! i have two CAPTCHAs, for some reason: Knight, a tiny white dragon, and Virid, a large gray mouse with moss and ferns growing on his back. Virid says <megca> mega? who knows.

are you into music? if you are, do you have a favorite genre/artist/song?

Hiya pangolin!

I really like to read realistic fiction and mystery, but especially fantasy. I usually write fantasy. It's just so fun to create a fantasy world!
Singing in choir is SUPER fun! I'm usually a bit nervous before concerts, but they always end up fun in the end.
I actually have never heard of those books! I'll try them out some time. :D
My favourite character in the owl house is King, for sure. He's just so cute! I also like a lot of the other characters, though.
I'm DEFINITELY into music. My favourite genre is pop, and my favourite artist is Taylor Swift. I can't choose a favourite song!
So... write ya later!

Hey :D

I also love reading realistic fiction, mystery, and fantasy! I also love sci-fi and historical fiction, and I especially love when two or more of those genres are blended together :] I totally agree--it's so fun to create fantasy worlds! I mainly write fantasy (though mainly contemporary fantasy that takes place in our world), some realistic fiction, and a bit of mystery. Do you have any current writing projects?

That's so cool! Choir sounds really fun :D Do you have any upcoming concerts (I know some places do a winter concert)?

Yeah, I think you might like them :D I think you'd especially like Nevermoor--the overall mood of it kind of reminds me of The Owl House? The plot isn't very similar, but it still has that aspect of entering into another world, and the worldbuilding is so whimsical and thought-through, and I absolutely adore all the characters. It also draws comparisons to Harry Potter--magical school, etc--but it's still really different :)

I love King too :D You're right, he's so cute! I also like Hunter, Lilith, and Willow :D

Ooh, I also love Taylor Swift! I also can't choose a favorite song XD Can you choose a favorite album of hers, maybe?

Do you celebrate any winter holidays/have any family holiday traditions?

Let it gooooo let it goooo can't hold it in anymoooore

let it goooo let it goooo—

oh... sorry, didn't see you there. I just watched frozen, so...yeah. Lol...

I'm kind of constantly writing stories, but almost none of them are any good...unless I actually go back and revise. So, right now I don't have any big writing projects, but I'm doing a online writing class called write for fun, so all the assignments are just fun, quick writing prompts and stuff like that.

Yeah, my choir did have a winter concert recently, but unfortunately I missed it becuase I got sick. I was feeling mostly better by the concert, but I still had this cough that I just couldn't shake. And I really didn't want to start coughing on stage in front of 300 people, so I decided not to go.

Hmmm... I have two different favourite albums. Midnights and 1989. I actually can choose a favourite song from both of those: Anti Hero or Karma from Midnights, and I Know Places from 1989.

Yes, I celebrate Christmas. My family does this really fun thing called Jolabokaflod, which is a Icelandic tradition that literally translates to "Christmas book flood". On Christmas Eve, we all get new books and read them while eating chocolates. What about you? Do you celebrate any winter holidays or have any favourite family traditions?

Haha, hi there :D Frozen is such a good movie :) If you've seen Frozen 2, which did you prefer, that one or the original?

Oh, a writing class! That sounds really cool! And yeah, I kind of get what you mean--I constantly feel like my stories aren't very good either, but I think the actual act of writing is more important than the result. Practice makes progress, as they say--you can't improve as a writer unless you actually write. That's what I'm always telling myself. It's really cool that you're doing an online writing course!

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! That really sucks :/ I've had to miss a few events because I got sick too; it's not fun :/

I love Midnights and 1989, too! Anti-Hero, Karma, and I Know Places are all so good! I also love folklore, evermore, and Reputation, and some of my favorite songs are ivy, the 1, and Don't Blame Me. Have you heard her latest release, You're Losing Me, yet? It's so good!

Oh, wow, that's really cool! That sounds like an awesome tradition! I love books lol. I also celebrate Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we go to a party at our family friends' house, and there's always music, games, and so much dessert. It's really fun, and this is the first year they're hosting it since the pandemic, so I'm really excited :)

Hmm, do you have any pets?

Yes, I have seen Frozen 2! It was good, but I don't think I liked it more than the first one. Which one is your favourite?

The online writing class is really fun. I actually just finished it! What kind of writing projects have you been doing lately? (Lol, just realized I'm ending every paragraph in a question)

I actually haven't heard Taylor Swift's new song yet! How could I? Yesss, those albums/songs are really good too.

Yeah, I LOVE books, so it's pretty much the best part of the year haha. :D ooh, that sounds like so much fun! We do something similar with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc, etc. (Lol I have a large extended family)

I don't have any pets at the moment. I used to have cats, but they passed away when I was really little, so I don't really remember them. Annoyingly, recently I went to my aunt's house, and she and her family have a cat, and apparently I'm allergic. Of course. *eye roll* It's okay though, I'm more of a dog person, anyway. (Yeah yeah I know that sounds like sour grapes but I actually mean it) I think I might get a hairless cat when I grow up or maybe convince my parents sometime becuase they are kinda cute in a creepy way, and I think it would be fun. Do you have pets? :D

Ah, cool! I actually preferred the second one, but that might be because when the original Frozen movie came out, my sister wanted to watch it every day, so it's a bit overplayed for me XD I think they're both really good movies, though!

I'm glad the writing class is (was, i guess) fun! It sounds really cool. :) I have Quite A Few writing projects right now, mostly due to my commitment issues when it comes to writing XD I just finished National Novel Writing Month, where the objective is to write a novel in a single month (or whatever word count you want, traditionally 50K words) and I'm preparing to start revising that soon! I'm also working on plotting and worldbuilding for a sci-fi/fantasy/superhero kind of story. My sister and I are also collaborating on a short story for our parents for Christmas.  :)

Hmm, I think You're Losing Me is online. I'm not really sure? And yay, it's always so cool to find someone with a similar taste in music :]

Haha yeah it sounds pretty fun! Have you read any good books lately? (Also yeah I totally get that; I have a huge extended family too XD)"

Ooh hairless cats would be so cool! Yeah I definitely see how they're cute in a creepy way XD I do have pets! I have two cats, and they are very silly and I love them very much :] One of my cats tried to sneak outside as I was leaving the house this morning, but then he put his paw down on the cold stone front steps, and bolted back into the house :P so silly

Do you have a favorite school subject? Or what about a least favorite subject?

<3 pangolin :)

The second frozen movie is really fun. Olaf is so funny in that one!

Wow, a whole novel! I... might be better at short stories, lol. Also, I say this to myself at least once a month: "let's write this really awesome long story in this amount of time that's not actually enough but let's pretend it is! Hooray!" So I definetly understand. That sounds fun to write a story with your younger sister! I've done that a couple times with my siblings, and it's really fun.

Yeah, I have heard You're Losing Me now. It's pretty good! Not my favourite out of all her songs, but still really fun. :)

Well, lately I've been re-reading Harry Potter. It's taking me a while, becuase I keep losing it, getting stuck on a part, or just forgetting that I'm reading it... but I will finish the first one soon.

Haha! That is so funny. Cats are hilarious. XD

My favourite school subject is probably language arts, but I also like history. I'm homeschooled, so so I go to these homeschooler in-person history classes sometimes. The guy who teaches them is really funny, so it's always a highlight of my month. What's your favourite school subject?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing your favourite animal is a pangolin. What are some of your other favourite animals?

Sorry it took me so long to reply! I've been really busy lately :/ Merry Christmas Eve, though :D

Yeah I'm always coming up with ideas for stories I never get around to finishing -- either because I don't have enough time to write, or enough motivation :P I actually haven't written many short stories (well, I try to, but then I don't resolve the conflict in a reasonable amount of time, and then they become novellas rather than short stories lol) but it's so cool that you do! I'd love to write more short stories. What are your short stories generally about, if you don't mind me asking?

Oh, you have siblings too? Are they older or younger?

Yeah, it's pretty good! Not my absolute favorite either, but I always get so excited when a new song comes out XD

Oh nice! I haven't re-read Harry Potter in a while, but I'll get around to it one day XD Do you have any favorite Harry Potter characters?

You're homeschooled? That's cool! What's it like?

I also love history and English! My favorite subjects right now are probably English and geometry, mainly because those are my favorite teachers :P

Yep, I love pangolins :D Some of my other favorite animals are cats (ofc), foxes, wolves, loons, owls, ravens, and frogs. Do you have any favorite animals?

Hmm, what's a place you've always wanted to travel to?

Merry Christmas!

My short stories are usually realistic magic. I actually posted one somewhere on here a while back... it was called The Pine Campground, and it was mostly realistic but had a magic y feel to it.
I have three younger siblings. I sometimes like being the oldest, and sometimes...not so much. But usually it's really fun, becuase one of them is a toddler and she is sooo funny. She has a HUGE vocabulary, so the little sentences she cobbles together are so sweet and funny. XD I also have a sister closer to my age, and when we're not fighting, we love to hang out. And I have a younger brother in kindergarten age, and he also has a really big vocabulary and always wants to talk about video games and stuff like that.
My favourite Harry Potter characters are Luna Lovegood, Hagrid, and Ginny. I also like Harry, Hermione, and Ron ofc.
Being homeschooled is AMAZING. If I'm stuck on a subject we can slow down and work on it, and find videos and stuff online to help. If a subject is too easy, we can go through it faster, doing a couple lessons a day. I can wake up at whatever time I want, and for breakfast and lunch we can do bigger meals becuase we usually don't have anywhere to rush of too. Also, we can go to places that are usually really busy on the weekend on weekdays, and it's super quiet. For example, our zoo. And our museum. We also don't get grades, and I can usually take as long as I want on tests.
Nice! Yeah, good teachers definitely make school more fun. I'm lucky my parents are good teachers, lol.
My favourite animals are red pandas, otters, axeltoles, foxes, and, ofc, wolves.
A place I always wanted to travel too... probably Hawaii. I also want to go to Prince Edward Island, (becuase Anne of Green Gables is set there and the way the author describes it it sounds beautiful), and also japan. If you could travel somewhere, where would it be?

Merry Christmas! :D I hope you had a great day yesterday!

Ooh, that sounds cool! I'll see if I can find it! Do you remember where you posted it?

Ahh she sounds so funny and cute!! Toddlers with big vocabularies are always so funny XD And yeah, I agree with what you said about being the oldest--sometimes it's great, and sometimes...it isn't :P

I like all the characters you mentioned too, especially Luna :D Do you have a favorite Harry Potter book?

Honestly, homeschooling sounds really awesome! It's great that you can adjust the curriculum to your needs, and that your parents are great teachers :] Sometimes I wish I was homeschooled because of all the things you mentioned, but mainly because learning at home = no commute to school XD

Ooh I love all the animals you mentioned!! Axolotls are so cute! I love their silly lil faces :]

All of those places would be awesome to visit! Prince Edward Island especially sounds great because of what you said--I've wanted to go there ever since I read Anne of Green Gables XD I've also wanted to visit Japan, mainly because I'm taking Japanese in school, so I hope I'll be able to go there one day! I've also always wanted to see Mont Saint-Michel in France--it just seems so cool and fantasy-esque--and various places in Ireland (so gorgeous there) and, well, everywhere, really! I want to travel the world when I'm older--there's just so much to see :]

Hm, what sort of hobbies do you have? Do you play any instruments or do any sports?

Hello!

Hope this works. :) And feel free to give any feedback! I'm always trying to improve my writing!
Hmm... my favourite Harry Potter book is probably the first or the third. I'm not a huge fan of the seventh, just because of all the deaths. (No that it wasn't well written or anything—I just don't like sad books that much.)
YES, no commute to school. The best. XD
Yeah! One of the other reasons I want to visit Japan is because they have NINTENDO stores. I love gaming, so that would be awesome. And I think people really focus on the cities in Japan, but the naturey parts are SO BEAUTIFUL too.
Okay, my hobbies are *takes deep breath*, Knitting, crocheting, reading, writing, biking, skating, cooking, baking, Lego-ing, (I think that's a verb, lol), drawing, and singing. Phew! Yeah, I like to do a lot of things. Yeah, as I just said, my favourite sport os skating and biking. (I don't really like team sports... I'm pretty competitive, but mostly with my close friends and siblings.) I don't play any instruments yet, but I want to learn piano sometime. What about u?

Hey :D I hope you had a great New Year's - did you do anything fun? Have you made any resolutions?

Oh, awesome! I don't really have time to read the whole story right now, but I read the first few paragraphs, and it looks really cool!! When I have more time, I'll definitely read it and tell you what I think :)

Ooh I love the first and third books too! My favorite is probably the second - I like that mystery aspect, I guess :] And yeah, the seventh one was so sad! :(

XD

Oh, Nintendo, cool! I don't do a ton of gaming (and everything I do do is on my crusty GameCube :') ), but I'm sure it's really fun! What are your favorite video games? And yeah, the city parts of Japan seem cool, but I'd definitely want to see more of the nature-y parts! So pretty.

Whoa, that is a lot of hobbies. They all seem so cool, though! I've always wanted to knit/crochet, and it's awesome you know how! What sorts of things have you knitted or crocheted? And everything else seems so fun, too! My hobbies are reading, writing, softball, snowboarding, drawing, calligraphy, Lego-ing (totally a verb!), hiking, and probably something else I'm forgetting :P I don't play instruments either, but I'd like to :D

Do you have a favorite food or cuisine?

My resolutions are 1. Make myself a skincare routine 2. Be nicer to my siblings (whoops...), and 3. Learn an instrument. What about you?

Thank you, that would be awesome!

Ohhh yeah the second one is so good too. You're right, it's very mysterious.

My Favorite video games are Minecraft, the Legend of Zelda, Untitled goose game, and Lego Fortnite. The untitled goose game is really funny becuase basically you're a goose with a checklist of a whole bunch of chaos to do.

Well, I've recently crocheted a little yeti that I'm really proud of, because it's my first time crocheting amigurumi. (I think that's how you spell it?) Which is basically crocheting little creature and shapes in the round. I have also knitted a tuque, or beanie if you're in the US. It's purple and pink and has these huge Pom poms that I made on it.

Ooh, snowboarding! I've always thought it sounds so fun, but never had the chance. And Calligraphy! That's super cool. I want to learn how to do that same time.

My favourite food is Tacos. Yum!! And there are so many different kinds. What's your favourite food?

aah i'm so sorry for the late reply!! school has been so busy lately. (also these comments are getting squished--)

those are some great resolutions! :D i don't really have any official resolutions, because instead, some friends and i each made bucket lists of stuff we want to do in 2024! so i guess that's kind of like a resolution, but kind of different (and something i'm more likely to actually do--), but i do want to be more confident in myself and explore more interests and hobbies :D

those games all sound cool! i think my friend has the untitled goose game, and it sounds really funny! and the legend of zelda is cool - i've played the original 8-bit game, but i'm sure that's a LOT different than the version you play - breath of the wild, i'm guessing?

oh my goshhh that's so cool!! a crocheted yeti sounds SO CUTE! and the beanie sounds really cool too - i love pompoms lol. if you're okay with sharing, i'd love to see some pictures!! (totally fine if not, though :]) how long have you been crocheting?

ah thanks! snowboarding is fun but i always get so many bruises lol. and calligraphy's fun too - you should totally try to learn it if you ever get the chance! i really enjoy it.

ooh i also love tacos!! there's a taco food truck near my house that is SO good. my favorite food is probably empanadas or momos (a tibetan dumpling :]) - there are some really good places around my neighborhood for each of those :]

hm, do you have a fictional character (even one you made up yourself!)?

sorry again for the late reply. i enjoying talking with you!
