CBversary!!

CBversary!!

It's official, lizards! It's been 1 year since I joined the CB >:)

I can hardly believe that so much time has gone by since I excitedly made my first comment on here. I'd been ghosting around for a couple of weeks before that, getting the hang of what this place was and what it was like, and it seemed amazingly magical to me. I was completely new to socializing online, but even then I could see that this community was something special - not just among online forums, but among communities in general. Where else can you find a group of kids and teens who support each other so unequivocally and understand each other so well? I guess that's my favorite thing about the CB - we're all kindred spirits. I still find it amazing that so many people who don't even know each other in real life can be so much on the same wavelength, and that this forum can give us a space to cluster together and feel understood and appreciated for who we are even when our real-life companions just don't get us. And on top of everything else, it's moderated by the admins who put so much work into it - thank you, admins! Without you this would be a very, very different place, and I'm very grateful that you spend your days enabling this wonderful community to exist.

Since I joined I've written a ski-lodge and a solo write, made friends, and been endlessly spellbound by the CB. It has never ceased to make every single day brighter than it would have been otherwise, and for so many reasons - the art, poetry, inside jokes, but most of all the friendship. I've met so many amazing people on here, every one different but every one special in a unique way. The CB has always made me laugh and smile and just be happy, and I'm infinitely grateful to be a member of it. My hope is, that as I start my second year here, I can give back to this community as much as it's given to me.

Anyway! This is all to say that I've spent a year on here already!! *releases eco-friendly balloons*

I'll be doing a Q&A thingy to celebrate, so if you have any questions, now's the time to bring 'em on! :)

Oh my goodness, happy CBversary Poinsettia! *environmentally friendly confetti* I completely agree with everything you said about the CB. I'm so grateful for this community and everyone in it, including you! I've really enjoyed getting to know you this past year -- you're kind, funny, and an incredible writer (your ski lodge and solo write, poems, and every other piece you shared with the CB are amazing). And Karum is the cutest thing ever I swear--

So, Q&A, huh? I guess I'll ask, uhhh, which fictional character do you feel like is most like you (OCs included, I guess?)?

Thank you!! your compliments made me very happy :) I've really enjoyed getting to know you too; you're so kind and friendly, and always have interesting comments or points of view. And your poetry is so beautiful and evocative and thought-provoking - *fangirls for like fifteen minutes* *fast-forward fifteen minutes* and yes Karum is so cute!! as proof, have you noticed that the punctuation which marks their speech, | and \, are on the same computer key??! it's like it was just Meant to Be.

That's a tough question... because unfortunately I haven't come across that many characters who seem that much like me. Maybe Aravis from The Horse and His Boy by C. S. Lewis, because she's adventurous and always speaks her mind. By contrast, all my OCs, or at least most of them, are partly based on myself! Let's see, there's Riana, a fiery, yet caring girl who's the queen of one of my fantasy worlds, and there's Roxana, the heroine of a romance I was writing a while ago that was partly inspired by the life of Alexander the Great. I think those are probably the two that are most like me :)

Happy CBversary, Poinsettia! Have you listened to the band Brandi Carlile's in, The Highwomen?

Thank you! I've listened to them a little bit, and they seem pretty good - not quite my preferred style, but still among my favorite contemporary mainstream singers! And I love Brandi Carlile's song "You and Me On the Rock," though you probably already knew that :)

oh happy CBversary! i, too, love the CB's particularity, how everyone on here is here because they love stories. and everyone is so astoundingly nice. including you! it's always nice to see your positivity.

questions. hmm. what's your favorite Austen book? (I've grown fond of Austen's writing in recent months, & i think you mentioned you liked her somewhere?)

aw, thanks <3 and it's always lovely to see you around too!

Oh yes, Austen. Well, I'm not a huge fan of hers, since she hasn't got that much action in her books, but I don't dislike her either - I suppose my favorite, of the ones I've read so far, is Pride and Prejudice. It has a more satisfying romance than the other ones I've read, I think <3 what about you?

ooh, Iffy says <ivayr.>

I finally got around to reading your ski lodge and it's AWESOME I just finished (reading it in one sitting) and woah... everything is so perfect and the dialogue is awesome and your descriptions are just right and so lively and beautiful and it's also pretty informational which is cool you seem to really know the facts and love all that midieval speak (you did it so splendidly) and really just GREAT JOB!!!! :DDD

ps and this is probably irrelevant but I also liked how sometimes your location was Narnia :)

Wow, I'm so glad you liked it that much! And yeah, Narnia used to be my location, because I think the Chronicles of Narnia are the best fantasy books ever written :)

I do enjoy doing medieval dialogue; if you like reading medieval stories, I'd recommend The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle, and Half Magic and Knight's Castle by Edward Eager. The last two are a little like my ski lodge, come to think of it... Anyway, i think you'd probably enjoy them if you'd like to try them out :)

Aw, thank you, that's so nice of you to say :') I'd love a free picturing! Your art is so striking and full of personality :)

A: Hmm, December's not really my favorite month, but Christmas is one of my favorite holidays... and I also just like poinsettias, because they're so pretty and vibrant. I also like the sound of the word "poinsettia"!
