Opposite of Pet

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Opposite of Pet

Opposite of Pet Peeves

I know I have a lot of little things that really annoy me, but lately I've been realizing I have just as many little things that really make me happy-- like the feeling of my face after I wash it, or when dogs with docked tails wag, or when you can see the shafts of sunlight coming through the window...

post those little things here!

-the way the doves sound in the evenings

-snuggling on the bed with my sister or parents

-getting into bed when I've just taken a shower and the sheets are freshly washed

-seeing a particularly lovely painting or sculpture or other work of art

-laughing really hard about something hilarious, be it something my sister said, a piece of dialogue in a book, or something else

-when I've captured a character or a scene perfectly and I just sit and reread it in a happy daze

-the smell of the small white four-pointed flowers in my backyard; they're similar to jasmine

- The sound of a mourning dove or peacock

- Freshly fallen snow

- The smell of popcorn

- The feeling of a surprise present

- The coolness after I come out of a shower during the summer

- When I finish a project or story

- The feeling of getting a meaningful compliment

- When I sit down to read a book I like

- The colors of a sunset

- The stars during a clear night

- When someone replies to me on CB lol

feel pretty not good rn, so here's some pretty things~

-cicadas on summer evenings

-the few perfect days that happen in late spring and early fall

-the wind in the trees

-those moments when you've just been hanging out with a friend and it was easy and fun and lovely and you are for once sure of someone's truly liking you, despite everything

-beautiful passages in books

-origami

-the way everyone has their own dialect, their own collection of phrases and inflection and way of speaking, gathered in osmosis from everyone around them

-old secondhand books

Old-book smells. When the windowsill is pleasantly warm and it's like you're getting warmed up (I'm definitely not a cat). A really good bit of writing that makes me go, that's beautiful. Solving a seemingly-super-tricky problem by a little trick. An undisturbed blanket of snow. Lining up two mirrors to see how many copies of me I can see. Being curled up, so immersed in a book you're surprised when you get yanked out of it by annoying meals. Funny jokes. I'm guessing if I ever found a quotation that antedated the OED quotation for the word, I'd find that cool, but it doesn't happen often (or ever, yet), for obvious reasons.

-the way snow looks on tree branches

-the sound of a pencil writing across paper, and the way letters appear right before your eyes, pouring out of your pencil in a steady stream of creativity

-the neat small folded rectangles of patterned cloth, tied up with a ribbon, that they sell in the local crafts store

-colored yarn, embroidery thread, cloth - I just love seeing so many colors spread out

-grinding up charcoal to make powder and putting water in it to make semi-ink

a good tv show, a blanket, and a cat on my lap; nice textures; the feeling of total unburdened free time, when you don’t have any work to do or anything; getting to quote tv shows; the smell of my brother's old books; listening to old happy songs alone in my room

sorry for the double post, i forgot an important one: the taste of melted ice. i know it's the same as water but it tastes different and it's way more refreshing in my opinion
