It a specially made earplug that reduces the sound to a certain decible so you don't lose your hearing. I only wear it in the ear closest to my violin though as two can make it tricky to hear intonation.

I'd written 21424 words into one of my books when I made a few major changes, and now I'm redoing all of it... It's probably better anyway, though, because I have two POVs and plotting with that is hard.
