Judging day! All your captions were so good, and a few of them made me completely disolve into laughter. This feels really cliché, but I honestly do wish I could give first place to everyone. But, since that defeats the point of having a contest:
Third place:
Azalea! "Local chipmunk surveys the demolished remains of his home..."
Your caption captured the sorrow of the dead tree, the constant headlines that everyone is quoting these days, and the hilarious sarcasm that is an important part part of a good caption.
Second place:
Feline Fantasy! "I guess I wasn't paying attention in school about how sometimes trees have smooth, vertical surfaces."
I love the utter bafflement that you put into your caption, it was so funny, and it was utterly unique as well.
Honorable Mention:
Sammy E! "INSOLENT FOOLS, I HAVE RISEN ABOVE MORTALITY! THE NUTS HAVE SPOKEN! I AM ONE WITH THE TREES! BOW DOWN TO THE IMMORTAL, PEASANTS!"
This was one of the ones that made me disolve into wild shrieks of laughter. That's all I need to say. XD

I just love this caption so much. It is the sort of thing I would say if I were sitting on that stump, and I think it sums up the expression on the chipmunk's face, as far as I can understand what I chipmunk's face is saying, which is not far. Anyway, it's a great caption and CONGRATULATIONS! You win!
