Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket
The Hearth
A fire crackles merrily in a stone fireplace, illuminating the cabin living room with gentle golden warmth. Facing it at eager angles are pillows and fluffy blankets, as well as oaken rocking chairs. Upon the hearth sits a bag of marshmallows accompanied by roasting sticks, graham crackers, and chocolate, as well as a couple of old dusty books. Many a story has been shared here at the hearth, as will many a story more...
Chatterboxers are arriving for the reunion from all around. It's an exciting time, but it's always nice to slow down and take a break from all the action! Settle down by the hearth with a s'more or two and reminisce on old times; connect with old friends and share some of your favorite CB memories!
I know we've all had some amazing past times here on the Chatterbox, and it's such a blessing to be able to come together now and talk about those days. And with all the many generations coming together at one time, there's a lot to be told! So much has happened in the past eleven years.
So without further ado, come on in and take your seat by the hearth!

Cho yelps as the cat comes in, as she just realized that Claaws was trying to offer her chocolate. She accepts it thankfully, feeling like an idiot that she had somehow missed that. She offers melon bread to the group. "See?" She says. "It's got a yummy melon sugar top, it's big and fluffy." She nods emphatically, and motions for Inktail to sit down next to her. "Sorry I didn't see that you were offering me chocolate, Claaws."

The cat slowly scooted closer to Cho, her tail flicking behind her. She glanced inquisitorially at the bread before shaking her head slightly. No, thanks.

Coconut's tried to supress a growl, somehow forcing it into a cough as a cat came in and sat down next to her. She relaxed, finally, and smiled. "Hello, Inktail!" She managed. It had been quite some time before the reunion, and even though Licorice existed, she hadn't got used to having cats around again.
She happily sniffed at the lemon bread, then grabbed one and passed the basket around. Swallowing the bite almost without chewing - have you ever seen a dog eat? - she passed the basket around to the next person. "They're really good!" She said, taking another bite. "They may sound strange, but we first found them when we visited Osaka. Well," she aknowledged, "Cho did. At the same time I found these! Not so strange to many of you, I think, but also yummy!" She pulled a basket out of thin air, it seemed, and grabbed a chocolate-filled pastry from inside. "I had these for breakfast for three days in a row," she said, mouth full with the last of her melon bun. "It was great!" She started eating her roll and passed that basket on, too, after grabbing a napkin and putting five more on it.
~~~
Man, I'm making myself hungry. And yes, the melon buns and chocolate-filled pastries were real. Are real, I guess. ;)
Inktail's tail flicked as she stared in amusement at the dog. "Hello, Coconut." She hid a smile behind her paw as the dog stuffed her face full of food.
a girl slips inside. the conversation has quieted, the reunion is over. the thread is dying down. she finds an open seat, then hesitantly begins to speak.
"I remember being here before. It was nice, I just never posted, so I left. I stayed around though, I looked at threads and stuff. But i missed actually being here. i had changed so much from the fresh-into-sixth-grade girl i was when i first joined. i wanted to come back, but i had just left. so i became peggy."
she paused, taking a deep breath.
"peggy doesn't feel right. It's not.. me. so, i've decided, on my birthday, (next month) i will reveal my identity. i'll try my best not to slip again."
Inktail glanced up. "Alright, you know, if that's what you want to do." She smiled, a little shyly.
There is a slight gust of wind and some mist swirls in near the west wall of the hearth. Suddenly a boy stumbles out, he is about fourteen in age with blue hair and eyes that look like the night sky. The adolescent straightens and tucks his gloved hands into his new hoodie, one that was designed by Leafpool. He grins and states blatantly states "I guess I'm late for the party, how have y'all been?"
Coconut looked up, already reaching for more pastries. "I've been good! How about you?" she asks, happily grabbing five more pastries. "Want some?" The basket levitates towards Darkking. "Don't worry, it's a bottomless basket. Plenty for everyone!" She smiled, braces flashing, and continued to eat.
(February 26, 2019 - 4:40 am)
Darkking slides into a cross-legged position and accepts the offered donut from Coco "I've been doing well enough, I've been getting busy lately but School gets out in a few months so then I'll be mostly free for the summer."
He looks at Coco for a bit before saying "I haven't gotten to interact with a lot of old CBers before so I'm sorry if this interaction seems a bit awkward." DK sighs and pushes a purple pair of glasses up from where they had been sliding down his nose before falling silent.
Inktail waved her tail politely. "Hello." She glanced at the food again and sighed, conceding to grabbing a piece.
