Advice help?

I'm going into high school soon and honestly, I'm pretty nervous! This school is GIGANTIC (four floors and over 100 classrooms) , and the locker you get is totally random. This means I can get a locker next to a Sophmore, Junior, or Senior as well!

Any advice...?

Thank you.

Wow, that sounds a bit scary :O

I'm homeschooled so I have never been in the exact situation, but when I started taking these weekly lessons at this decently big art school place with totally new people, I was feeling pretty jittery...

My advice is to find someone friendly who's been there for over a year. Either that, or someone else who's new. Having someone to talk to can be really reassuring.

I agree with Pooki, definitely find someone who's older but nice! I'm also going into high school, but from my experience, having someone about a year older than you is always helpful - that's how I survived middle school, and I'm going into high school with one of those friends as well! Be sure to just be yourself, turn in your work on time, and be on good terms with your teachers, and I'm sure you'll be fine! Also, don't worry about big schools - my middle school had about a thousand students, but everyone still knew each other, and once you've had a bit of time to fumble around, it's not that hard at all!

Good luck!

Oh, wow. Cool! Most schools have an orientation day so you can figure out where stuff is and maybe how it works. Don't worry about getting everything perfect. I've had plenty of awful first days, and I've lived through all of them. If you do something wrong, stay calm and figure it out. Fix it, apologize, make up for it, ask for help, whatever you need to do. It'll be your first time. Sometimes it's bad. Sometimes it's wonderful. It's not your only shot. The second day will probably make you nervous, too.

Whoever you get a locker next to, they'll probably be nice. I don't really know what else to say. Age differences aren't all that important to me; my school has students in grades pre-K to 12 (or kind of 13; we have at least one super-senior), and we all interact and get along fine. I guess small talk could include what grades you are and maybe advice, if you talk at all. Do normal people talk to the people they get assigned lockers next to? I am weird and would not know.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
