Ok, so I have a secret I would like to tell you all that almost no one in my school knows. My dad is disabled. Here's the story.
Story of Dad
So, before my mom and dad ever met, my dad was born in Spain. He was there for the first 25 years of his life, and he was a police officer in Spain. When my parents were in their late teens, they met and became friends. One day he was in charge of chasing after someone driving a stolen car. He did, but in the process he forgot to put on his seatbelt. When he hit the brakes, he swerved, hit a telephone pole, and broke his spinal cord. Now, for you CBers that don't know what that is, it's (definition from google) "the cylindrical bundle of nerve fibers and associated tissue that is enclosed in the spine and connects nearly all parts of the body to the brain, with which it forms the central nervous system.
So basically, when he broke his spinal cord, he lost the ability to move his feet, fingers, and legs. He hasn't stood up in 18 years, and still can't, unless someone invents some "miracle surgery" that can make him walk again.
Soon after, my mom took care of him and she proposed to him. They got married, and as a result of some sheer miracle, they had me.
I am grateful to say that we are all living happily now, in a home with only one floor (obviously)
He can do a lot of things by himself, like cook, draw (super good, like professional painting and drawing), he can play board games with us, etc. Sometimes, though, I just get so frustrated that I can't see my dad standing. Ever. I have no idea what it's like to play baseball with my dad or go running with him. And the toughest part is, he was very fit before this. He went running for miles each day, and always excercised. He is very frustrated about that, but he knows he can't change it.
I just figured you guys should know about it. Thank you for listening.
Thank you for telling us, AutumnArtist. Best wishes to your dad and your whole family.

I'm sorry. It sounds like he's amazing at adapting to his disability.
I have an idea and I hope it won't insult you.
When FDR's legs were paralyzed, he exercised his upper body until he was incredibly strong. So maybe your dad can focus on making the parts of his body that he can move extremely strong. Maybe that would make it less frustrating.

I'm so sorry AutumnArtist, he sounds like a wonderful person, and I hope your whole family is doing well and will continue to!
That must be hard to deal with sometimes. You must all be very strong!
Thank you for telling us and best wishes! <3

By putting this post up, you have shown us CBers of your bravery. Talking about things that are important to you isn't always so easy. Your father and mother sound like brave people also. They accepted the situation, instead of denying it. If you need anything, just post something and all of us CBers can try and cheer you up. Even if you're anonymous, or you're just saying you're going through a difficult time, we will pull out those inspirational quotes and hope they make a difference. I'm praying for you and your family.

Autumn, thanks so much for sharing. it must really be difficult to have a disabled father, and probably even more difficult to talk about it. I really admire you for standing up and doing this. And best wishes to your father and whole family. May he someday be able to walk, run and do eveything someday!
