SNOW DAY!!!H

SNOW DAY!!!

Here in Massachussetts it's been snowing pretty hard since around 9:00 am. We have a snow day today and I'm really happy because I got a TON of homework last night! I would've had to stay up really late last night to finish it all if there was school today. I know this storm was supposed to hit a lot of other places too, so who else is getting snow right now?

Everyone was expecting a snow day today, so if we had school it would be really disappointing. We got the call that school was cancelled when I was babysitting my neighbors, and we were in the middle of playing Twister. The phone rang but the kids didn't pay any attention to it, so I said, "I wonder if we should see who's calling?"

The boy, who's in 3rd grade, got really excited and said "Maybe school's cancelled!"

I didn't think that the school would be calling because it was about 4:00 and usually we get the call around 6:30, but by the time I said this, we were all running into the kitchen to see who was calling. Sure enough, it was the school, and we all got SUPER excited. The boy picked up the phone and we found out there wasn't any school today, and we all started jumping up and down. (Yes, even me. :)

So is it snowing where anyone else lives? Did the storm already hit you? Is it not going to snow near you at all?

P.S. The power went out while I was writing this, but it's back now.

P.P.S I don't know why I'm acting so excited about a snow day. I'm used to them because we've always had snowy winters here. I guess I'm just happy to have no school on a Tuesday.

I'm in Pennsylvania, and everyone said there would be a snow day, but we have a lot of snow and no snow days.

Anywho yesterday (when it snowed) my friends and I went around the neighborhood shoveling driveways for money. It ''twas quite fun! We earned $ 20. GTG now bye!!

Yesterday was a snow day for me, too! I did...a lot of...well, just sitting on the couch and reading.XD The snow turned into rain at about 1:00, so then it wasn't really fun anymore.

*Looks at these posts* *laughs* Gee younge whiper snappers you've never seen a real snow day in your life! *coughs* *prepairs to tell story*

Ya see, when I was a younge whiper snapper our snowdays only happened what the snow piled up so that it blocked these here doors! Even when that happens, if the snowplows get there fast enough, we'll still have school. I've had one snow day this here year, and that was when we got 2 feet of snow that blocked the school busses from getting out. I've had one delay though, which was great! I got sleep! But...the snow was so high that my dog walked right over out fence and we had the chase her all morning.

SO uh *clears throat* none of ya here childs have ever seen a real powder day! Er-snow day!

Side note, have any of you ever gone skiing? We have the BEST slopes up here, better then California's even. On a snow day usually everyone goes skiing for the fresh powder-er-snowfall, and that is the reasen why we have strange breaks and never a monday off during ski season. Cause all the locals at once won't make room for tourisum!

I love skiing! I've only gone to mountains in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and one time I went to a mountain in Western Mass. I'm sure all those mountains are tiny compared to what you have in California! I want to ski out west someday soon.

I live in OR, and it snowed way more than it usually does in January.

Welllll... I live in Hawaii, so it's kinda hard to have a snow day... I love snow, though.

P.S. Cardinal says "eehc". I don't think she likes snow.

Well actually I live in one of the only (and biggest) ski resorts in Colorado. To be honest, I've never skied anywhere else but California's Salt Lake City, and I've had friends from NY tell me that the slopes by them are bad. Anywho, did you know that some people have never seen snow in THEIR LIFE?! I find that hard to believe cause the grounds covered in snow for 10 of twelve months of the year....so you can imagen those shocked faces of those Texans as they walk out of the airport in Denver....

I haven't skiied since I five, but I snowboard! I loooooooooooooveeeeee going super-duper fast down the hills. Although, if the snow is choppy, it sometimes results in me catching my edge and getting flipped over in the air and landing on my behind. Heheh. Fun times.

But pow-days are AWESOME! Especially when glades get opened up. The double-black-diamond ones.

:D

I took this on the day after the snow. Both our side door (to the driveway) and our back door (to our deck and backyard) were unable to be opened, so I had to go out our porch door and climb over the railing.

Leafpool and Tux, do you live in Illinois?

It would be hilarious if we were neighbors or something. :)
