Hello, everybody. My name is Julie D.. I was born in France, but I've lived in Hartford ever since I can remember. One of my best friends lives in Gales Ferry which, if you know Connecticut, is pretty near Hartford. ((It's true, btw, that one of my best friends lived in Gales Ferry. I set the climax of my book there as a tribute to her. :D )) I have black hair that's about shoulder length, and my eyes are green. Everyone says that if I grew my hair out I'd look like Arya from the Eragon books. I have a dog named Taffy - she's a Chihuahua. She had intestinal surgery last week, but she seems to be recovering well. I have a little brother named Evan, and he has a snake named Buddy. Our house is a constant battleground between Buddy and Taffy, but of course Taffy wins every time because someone catches Buddy and puts him back in Evan's room. I go to a private high school and am in tenth grade, having skipped almost every other grade. In two years I want to go to college, but I don't know if they'll allow thirteen-year-olds. I'm looking for one that will, but they're hard to find. I was talking in complete sentences by the time I was six months old, and I taught myself to read on my first birthday. I really want to be homeschooled so that I can go faster, but Mom says not untill next year. She says that maybe by that time she'll have taught herself trig so she can teach me. My dad works for NASA and my grandpa was one of the designers of the Apollo missions. Tata, everyone!

Admin, why did my fake last name get cut off? Marcia Booth's is still there. Why cut off the fake names?
We're likely to cut all last names, Julie, because we have no way of really knowing which are fake and which are real.

Bonjour! I am 23 and studying in the field of
fashion in France. I live in the beautiful city of Paris
and often enjoy going to an authentic French cafe, in
view of the Eiffel Tower. In the evenings I sometimes
walk in the park with my dog, Brigitte. I have to leave
now. Au revoir (goodbye)!

Why do we need three threads for one S.I.? It doesn't get THAT confusing, does it?
(May 10, 2009 - 5:51 pm)
Yes, I agree, I believe we should have one thread next time.

Hi! I'm Marissa B. W.
I live in Cuba, which is hard, because I speak only english.
I moved here when I was three, because my dad's job was transfered to Vedado.
My mother speaks a little spanish, enough to get around, while my dad speaks it almost fluently. I have tried learning the language numerous times, but always ended up forgetting everything I had just memorized.
When I was four, I was convinced the gulf of Mexico was the only big body of water in the world. That lasted until I was five and a half, and visited my aunt in New Jersey. She showed me a map of the world. I had seen them before, but I doubted the existence of all the oceans, gulfs, etc. Never the less, I knew my aunt wouldn't lie to me, and believed every word she said.
I hate the school I attend. There is only one teacher who speaks english, and she thinks she's the only person in the world who knows how to do it correctly. She's from Oklahoma, though it doesn't seem like it, because she says her "R"s like "L"s.
I do love my school work though, and am a devoted scholar.
I type 100 words a minute, and was hired by the local english club to write out their newsletter.

What's your favorite color?
(May 16, 2009 - 11:48 pm)
Hey everybody. I realized there are like no boys on this website! Well I'll introduce myself:
I'm 14 years old and in 9th grade. My favorite colors are red and black, but I'm not gothic or anything. I'm really into cars. My favorite is a Ford Mustang. They are so cool! I've already started saving up for one. I can picture it now - a sleek red Mustang convertable racing down our long driveway. Oh yeah.
I like to read but I'm more into non-fiction books. But out of the novels I have read Hatchet is probably my favorite. Anybody read it? It's awesome! Even if you're a girl. The author's name doesn't come to mind right now... but I know he wrote another award winning book called Dogsong.
I'm not homeschooled, I go to a Charter high school. Does anyone here go to one?
My family's not very religous but we go to a Baptist church. I mean I believe the stuff but I don't really pay that much attention. Maybe I should.
My favorite subject in school is probably Algebra. I'm taking Algebra II right now. Is anyone else taking it? Well I've got to go.
Jason, Hatchet is by Gary Paulsen.
