OMG or OMG?
OMG or OMG?
I was just wondering.... How many people on here mean "Oh my gosh!" When they say OMG? And how many mean "Oh my ....!" I always mean oh my gosh, because while I might not be a very devout Catholic, I do feel awkward saying it.
I think I've never said the other one, except once when I went to school for 2 weeks (I decided it wasn't my thing later) and there was an...interesting incident and I kinda got caught up in the crowd of OMG-people and said it....
So how many of you mean OMG, and how many of you mean OMG?
I read OMG as Oh my gosh!

Usually? Neither. I say Oh My Pie or Oh My Pancakes or something awkward like that as a habit I picked up on another website. I'm Jewish but not super religious. I usually read OMG as oh my gosh or goodness, and I refrain from using the OMG partially because of my own values and partially becuase I don't want to offend those who are more devout in whichever religion they practice. ^^

This is strange, but I usually say OMJ (long and weird backstory) or OMG as Oh My Goodness, or OMGoodness, or just plain OM. OM is most frequently used for me. As a Christian, I don't feel that's very respectful to say Oh My .... So I don't really feel comfortable with it, although I don't consider it bad to say. I don't feel very comfortable with Gosh either, but I'm ok with it. I don't say it though.

I mean Oh mi Gandalf! No really, I do! I have never said Oh my ***, and Oh my gosh is just so unsatisfying. XD
I read OMG as Oh my gosh on here though. Everywhere else I read as OMG as ... the other one. Lots of kids at my church say it though, and I always feel sick when they do. (Not like, really sick. More shocked, really.)

l don't say "oh my ---" for the same reason you, Leaf, do not, being Catholic and all. "Thou shall not use the Lord's name in vain" and so on.
l don't read OMG as anything, actually, l read it as letters, not words.

I read it as Oh my g--, because that's the original meaning and it's what really nearly everyone means. I don't say it because it's not entirely respectful to God....and even if you do mean gosh, goodness, or Gandalf (love this one), there still will be TONS of people who read it as g--. Because that's the original meaning, ect.
I just say Omigosh, so that people can know that it's gosh, not g--, and also because that's way cooler and doesn't offend the hate-text-language-people (as much), and in the end it's happier for everyone!

When I talk I say "Oh my gosh" and "Oh my goodness". Never the other one. When I read OMG I just hear the letters spelled out in my head. Same thing with lol, brb, etc. I know what they mean, but I never, ever think: "Laugh out loud" or "Be right back". Always the letters. It's weird!
@Novelist my brother used to say "for crying out loud" all the time (as well as a lot of stranger expressions, including: "Great lakes of Michigan!"). Now he just says "I'm Batman" and "Moofish!". (No, no, he's not five. Yes, he's eighteen, looking for a weekend job, and just got accepted into college. No, he hasn't found a job yet...)

I don't use it, but I would mean "oh my goodness." Maybe I would mean "over Mountain Green" or "only many gorillas."

I say it as Oh my gosh, or oh my goodness. I just don't like to take the lord's name in vain; ever.

I always mean gosh because I'm Christian, but either way I don't say omg very much.

I also say a lot of really old fashioned old people things like oh my and oh gosh. Or sometimes just gosh. I say oh gosh a lot though because me and my sister have an inside joke with it. Sometimes I'll say oh my Luna as in Luna from MLP and probably about half the time I say oh my Josh as in Josh Dun from twenty øne piløts. Like, "Oh my Josh I'm so Dun with this."

I see and write it as "oh my ---", because I'm not religious. Sorry. I used to actually spell it out before realizing that was inconsiderate and could be considered blasphemous. Still kind of ashamed of that.

Always Oh my goodness.
