Hey, Tara! AE stands for alter-ego. They can talk in bold, italic, or bold and italic. For example:

Hi, Tara! I'm Liaryn, Bluebird's AE. 

*muffled screaming*

That's Eyeless Jack, Bluebird's other AE. We've locked him in the closet so he won't scare you away. 

Yeah... most of them are pretty insane. Anyways, Captchas are the little box at the bottom before you post, where you type in the four letters. We name our captchas (mine is Cha Cha) and if they ever say a word or something close to one, we will say something like this:

My captcha says bean! That's her second word! Or whatever.

RPs go like this: Someone will come up with a plot or theme, and you will make a character (Or two, depending on the creator). You will then write from your character's point of view.

Ski lodges are written by one person, unlike RP's. They are sort of like a murder mystery.

Also, something you should know- Topping means to bring a thread back to the first page. When I was new, I thought the CBers saying top was all the same person! :) CBer is short for Chatterboxer, what we call ourselves.

To answer your questions:

An AE, short for Alternate Ego, is a character-type, imaginary person that you sometimes bring on threads. Some threads don't allow them, though, so be careful not to post with them everywhere.

A CAPTCHA is basically the same thing. Some CBers (Chatterboxers) like to name their CATPCHA, the box with letters at the bottom that you have to fill out.

Rps are roleplays, where you create a character and roleplay as them in a story.

Ski Lodges are where there is a bunch of peaple who are invited to stay somewhere. The whole thing sounds a little fishy to them, but they go anyway. Or they don't even have a choice, sometimes. The people get killed off one by one, until the killer reveals him or herself.

AEs- Alter Egos. I'm pretty sure the concept was based off Red. One of the older CBers has schizophrenia... it's hard to explain. Anyway, a couple people interpreted this concept slightly differently. The first prominent and so named Alter Ego was Brookeira (then Brooke E.'s) "Masked Piester". The concept is that if you are a pretty reversed person who irl (in real life) acts pretty normal, you can use an Alter Ego to vent their craziness. At this point, many people have multiple alter egos. There was some contreversy, as these people used their Alter Egos to vent not just a healthy dose of crazy, but some more unnatural feelings, such as anger- resulting in fun "AE Wars" turned sour. It is my personal belief that it's a good and interesting idea, but like all interesting ideas you've got to be careful with it. Like many other people, I have different personalities, but they change too quickly to have an AE. 

Ski Lodge- the first Ski Lodge was a story written by Ruby under the name TON (the Onipentent Narrator) with the help of Red (just for jokes, since Red also participated). It was a hilarious story using the CBers themselves. The CBers would go to a ski lodge, in which one person would be killed off per day. At the end, the murderer would be revealed. Now, a "Ski Lodge" has different meanings. Since Ruby asked no one use the exact same idea, a "Ski Lodge" is now simply something about the same- written by one author, with the CBers who joined as characters, where one dies off per day, usually in some sort of theme. ie. the RMS Humbug one by Curio. The second meaning is simply a story written by a CBer with other CBers as characters. 

the CAPTCHA is the code at the bottom of the page. It asks you to type in the letters to see if you are human or not (to prevent spamming). I'm not sure who decided to keep them as pets- it's before my time. I do know people often say what they're CAPTCHAs are and comment on them. Since it's randomly generated having an interesting CAPTCHA is worth some note. (My CAPTCHA is uaua, for instance. If I had more creativity I might be able to interpret that in some way that was amusing to others.)

RP or RPG- Role Play or Role Play Game. An RP is when you create characters and write a story using them, each person contributing. You control them, allowing you to shape the plot and story while also seeing what is happening to others. RPGs are also wonderful fun to reread. (Does anyone remember the name of that RP on the island with the powers? That was amazing and I forget who the creator was but they had the most beautiful writing style ever and it totally shamed me because I was younger then and a bad writer. Heh, still am though. Sorry for the random stream of conciousness there. XD.)
