Poetry Contest II
Poetry Contest II !
So, here is what I posted on the last thread in case you didn't see.
Oh gee I totally forgot about this. My friend seriously hurt her ankle on Sat and then I got braces yesterday so I was highly distracted.
So...the winner is Clouded Lepeord, and the runner-up is Alexandra! Great poems guys. I chose yours because of the description, detailed image/moment depiction, and obvious effort on your parts. Clouded, you may judge round two! I'm making another thread...
So let's get writing! If Clouded Lepeord denies the position or doesn't respond by THURSDAY, I will go ahead and choose a topic for the next contest. Happy writing!

Up! Top!

Sorry if this took a little bit of time! I had to decide. They were all very good. :)
In third place, with an excellent poem, is Ashlee G!
Your poem was extremely touching and heartfelt. I've never experienced the death of a close friend, but my old dog died. Your poem also had a haunting, elusive feeling to it, as if the friend who died was watching the narrator all along, wishing them well.
Taking second place is Rose bud!
Rose bud, your poem touched relationships in an excellent way, one of the best ways, I thought. It not only discussed the sometimes negative relationship we have with nature, but also ended in the note that we will continue to leave our mark, an imprint, on the Earth. I especially like the line about 'until our flexible tennis shoes, inexorable boots. curved slippers, and arching heels continue making patterns that cross the world'. That puts your poem into the future, addressing what we leave for our children and beyond.
And finally, the winner is... Alexandra!
The pacing of your poem was very good. I must admit, I've always been one to appreciate good rhyme and rhythm, and yours definitely had it. I also enjoyed the theme of love being found in different places, and not just the 'man-woman kissy kissy' type. It delivered a very clear, very profound message.
~~
To everyone who didn't win, good job too! I loved them all but had to decide on three. Alexandra, it's your job next to make the contest and judge it. Good luck!

Wow, thank you, CL! I didn't feel I'd place at all, so thank you. I am looking forward to round 3 and its topic.

YAY! I won! Thank you so much, CL! I'll think about the theme and post it later!

Congrats to you, Alexandra. Smile more...

Top! I totally forgot about this! I'm so sorry! But anyways, the new subject is nature. Write a poem about nature, or something in nature, or maybe it could be about the beauty of nature. Plants, animals, forests, oceans... write a poem about nature! And top!
