Me?

The few moments I gain at the bars at gymnastics. Glide, toe, shoot, finishing off the kip and jumping onto the next bar. Another kip, a backhip circle, then an undershoot, then I swing back once, twice, and then

into the air like a bird, flipping over and landing on the mat, trying to hold onto those glorious seconds of flying for a little bit longer. To be a bird for a few seconds.

Cho! You do gymnastics? I had no idea! What level are you? I'm level six!

For me it's getting a skill for the first time. The frustration of failing again and again while everyone around you succeeds. Try again, do it better this time. No, it didn't work yet. Do it again. Again. Again. No, still not working. Everyone coming over, explaining this way and that, trying to make me understand. Try again. No. No, I can't do this. My face feels hot, tears burn in my eyes. No. I will not give up, I will not give in. I refuse. I refuse to fail. Take a breath try again. They're all watching, screaming my name, giving me strength. I must succeed. Let it all go, flow away, fly away, soar. My mind is out now, my body takes over. The endless drills and repititions take over. Go, don't stop, can't stop, won't stop, never stop. Stay on the beam, on top of the bars, over the vault, across the floor, stick the landing. Heart pumping, brain pounding, teammates screaming. I did it? Yes, yes, yes, I did. The warm glow of success floods me, heartbeat pounding a rhythym in my ears. Triumph.

I'm a level three, but I do quite a bit of level four things. I still don't have my back handspring though. :(

I had it twice, but then lost it both times. I'm getting really close, though!

Just keep working at it and you'll definitely get it! Do you compete?

No, because last season, we were going on vacation the only days we (Coco and I) could compete at our levels. Once I get my floor down though, I could totally compete! Because I'm amazing at bars and vault, and mediocre on beam.

I'm horrible at floor though, because I have 0 flexibility. :(

When I was a compulsary, I used to be really bad at beam and floor, but when I became an optinal and could get my own routine I got so much better! Because states is over we're all mostly doing conditioning and working on new skills. I love bars soooo much! I'm ok at vault. I'd be better, but we don't really do it that often. My floor routine is super fun and cool, and I'm ok at beam. I'm learning how to do giants on bars! So awesome!

I know, bars is the best!! I don't mean to brag, but it's one of the few things I can brag about gymnastics; anyways, I'm the best in our class. I was second-best until recently. A girl in our class Iwas the best, but she fell off of the high bar (the coach caught her), but she's still really scared of doing high bar. :(

That's awesome, that you're working on your giants, Cockleburr!! I can't wait to do them for myself. I've almost got my kip, but I have a hard time gliding by myself.

It's so fun talking about gymnastics with someone! Because none of my friends go there, and none of them have ever done gymnastics, so none of them will get what I'm talking about, and then my friends(ish) can see me do it, so I don't have to tell them!

Oshmigosh, kips are the BEST THING EVEEEEEERRRR! They are so so so fun! Now that I know how to do drop kips, part of our warm up on bars is ten drop kips! Ten! I can't do ten in a row yet, best I've ever done is eight. It took me super long to get my kip, though. Most of my team got them that July (when we were training level fours). It took me 'til October! I also love flyaways! My floor music is Unstoppable. (I don't use the whole thing. I use about one minute of it.) I love my floor routine sooo muuuuch!

YYYAAAASSSS!!! I could do the level four routine FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though, if I could, I probably would. I did 80 situps during conditioning yesterday! Most of the other girls did 30-40. I just kept going, and my stomach doesn't hurt that bad!

P.S, Cockleburr, I'll be in Wilmington next Wednesday.

First place:

Scylla! Just kidding, it's

Esthelle! It's so poetic--I loved the carpet metaphor, the ocean smilie--It made me feel like it was really fall!

Second place:

Cho Chang! It makes me want to take gymnastics. I love the metaphor about being a bird! I also think it was cool how you wrote like

Third place

Biblio! I really know how you feel. All I need to make friends with someone is a book in common. Any book, as long as we're both fans.
