Mottoes!

Mottoes!
What are some of everybuggy's mottoes? Post a few that you know everyone will agree with, then post some that you know that some people disagree with! And, we can challenge each other's mottoes and maybe even change our own opinions! Fun, fun, fun.
For mine, mottoes everyone will agree with:

1: Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still.

Mottoes that can be challenged:
1: It's better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.
2: Ideas are there to be challenged, people to be disagreed with, and stereotypes to be defied.
3: Peace does not make the world go round. Did the Sons of Liberty create America by being PEACEFUL? Did Martin Luther King get his rights by BEING QUIET? Did slaves get their rights WITHOUT A FIGHT?
4: Imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.

My motto that, I guess, could be challenged:

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

To be honest I'm more of a catchphrase person than a motto person, but here are some mottoes I've had:

Breathing could save your life (Age 5, based off a scary expeirence at the beach. It's stupid, I know, but it's true. I thought I was soooo clever for coming up with that.)

Nobody likes ketchup. (Age 8, I think. VERY controversial. Based on the Great Ketchup Debate of Third Grade. Yeah, I know it's not true. But I still think ketchup is gross.)

Keep calm and throw glitter in people's faces. (Age 9. Still stand by that quote.)

Always be yourself, unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn. (Age 10. Sorry, this is one of the last funny ones. But seriously, if you have the option, always be a unicorn.)

Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there's footprints on the moon. (Age 11. This is by far my favorite one, because I've always hated people saying the sky's the limit. There should be no limit, let me dream, man! I guess it could be controversial considering the moon is in the sky, but you get the point. I love, love, love this quote/motto.)

When life gives you lemons, throw them back and demand cupcakes. (Age 11. Basically I'm telling the world cupcakes are better than lemons. Which they are.)

Wow, did you come up with all of those?!?! I really love 'don't tell me the skys the limit when theres footprints on the moon'. I am gonna have to adopt that one! Also, I love yours from the beggining, Admin!

Thanks, Cockleburr. There are lots of good ones. Here's one from my first day of Latin class:

Faber est quisque suae fortunae.

Translation: Each man is the architect of his own fortune.

Actually, the footprints on the moon quote is from a Paul Brandt song called "There's a World out There". Sav can't have made it up.

I know, but Cockleburr asked if Savvy had made them up.

Yeah, I didn't make them all up. Maybe half of them or a little more.

Well... I haven't really thought of mottos that much, so thanks for bringing this up!

Anyway, here are a few of my favorites:

We are the heroes of our own stories.

When it rains, look for rainbows. :)

A book is a door. Always and forever.

The best way to be the kind of girl you want to be is to do what that girl would do.

Living is a paragraph, constantly rewritten.

Rules are for those who can't think of a better way.

Well, I don't really live by this one, but …

"When life gives you lemons, squeeze them into the eyes of your enemies."

This one I do.

"Curiosity didn't kill the cat. A lack of it did."

"Even if you stay on your toes, life is still going to surprise you."

This isn't really a motto, but I like it anyway: Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

These are all so cool. This isn't really a motto but I find it to be true.
"Tutus boost confidence."
The same is true with knee high socks. And this shirt that I made up which says I AM HAMLET on it. If you put the three together you can look like you are two and then maybe it won't boost your confidence.
