Is it just me, or are there a lot of new people joining on the CB? Is Crowd Sorcery bringing them all, or...?

I think because it's summer, and no one has much to do (er, that is, not many people have any school and might not have anything to do) and that Crowd Sorcery is good advertisement. Also, a lot of the older CBers are busy - lots of the newbies are about middle school or younger - so we can notice more new names everywhere.
