@Theo W.: Just wondering, have you ever considered a career being an animator on a cartoon TV show(s) or movie(s)?

Sometimes, yes, but I have no idea how they do it. I am sort of anti-computer software, though I might. It would probably be intresting. We were looking at future career jobs, and I could make a living in mutimedia. I've always thought constructing a video game would be intresting. And I have done some stop motion videos. I woudl tell you the way to fins my video on the internet apart from the fact that it would reveal my name and gender, and last name, as it is on my dad's account. But it was really hard work and I enjoyed it.

So, I suppose yes. I think doing stop motion would be intresting, though I don't really understand modern animation. Movies probably more of than TV shows.

It seems like something you would be more intrested and better at than me.

Hm. Have you ever taken an animation class? I have, and it's fun, though all I did was stopmotion. In my second animation class our teacher said he could show us some basic CGI, but we were all more interested in stopmotion.

I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find a similar class, and Pixar's website has some good behind the scenes stuff and other info. I don't know about you, but I'm hoping to get somewhere into the movies by doing good enough in education and then finding enough money to make my way into a college of the arts. Then I hope to get a job somewhere at a high-profile Hollywood operation using my skills and my diploma.

I would love to get into CalArts, which was organized by Walt Disney in the 60s and has turned out such top-notch filmmakers as John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Brad Bird, and Tim Burton, but I'm all the way over here in Philadelphia and it's all the way over there in California, so it's highly unlikely.

Do you have any similar desires?

I don't want to interrupt a private conversation, but if there are companies that are still making non-CGI movies when we get old enough to get jobs like that, it would probably be ink and cel animation, if I'm not mistaken.  Which is basically like stop-motion with special drawing tools.

Also, if I were going into animation or anything like that, Cal Arts would be my DREAM SCHOOL.  I want to be an Imagineer, though, which means I want an engineering background, so MIT is currently my dream school.  Which is good because it's relatively close.  I'd still live in the dorm (it's not too too close), but I'd be able to come home if I needed anything.

Oh my gosh, Tim Burton is so awesome! No cartoon career for me though. I'm really bad at drawing and it scares me to death to do things I'm not good at.
