Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Writing Magic, by Gail Carson Levine
This book is...

This book is for 6th graders and the author, Gail, talks about how to write really good stories. I've read Ella Enchanted by her, and I LOVED IT.

I have started 2 stories, then I decided: 'Oh, well, this story plot doesn't sound interesting anymore, I'll just ditch it'. But in the book, Gail actually talks about exactly my problem! She says to 'Think about the story's potential'. So now, my ditched stories have now sounded like something I want to start up and finish again.

If you have not read it, then I encourage you to! At the end of each chapter of the book, Gail gives you a writing assignement, like to write a story, or something like that.

It is really helpfull and helped me to understand that no story is perfect and really encouraged me to write.

My mom needs the computer, but when I find more time, I'll post her 'Writer's Oath' and you can all take it.

Also, let me say real quick, is that Gail's most important rule for y'all is that the more you write, the better you'll become at writing.

I got it from the library, and it was so good. It has soooo many tips and perfect for any frustrated writer (and for those who just want something to read).

I need to read this so badly! I get frustrated/bored with my stories and stop and never look at them again. This is bad.

I've never read it, but I probably will! (I loved Ella Enchanted, too.) I've written a lot of stories, and boy, I've probably written six to ten lousy to okay ones for every one that's turned out really good. Don't worry if the plot isn't interesting, it won't be a boring story if you have an interesting writing style. And some people read boring books anyway. I hope you have fun with your writing!
