Chatterbox: Blab About Books

His Dark Materials
I was looking...

I was looking through the shelves at my library and found a huge volume of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. It sounded good, but I was unsure about checking it out and lugging the 1-ton book around if it wasn't fantasticly terrific. If fifteen people say they like it, I'll get it, but not if they don't. Let me know what you think!

I liked the trilogy very much, but I got them from the library in three separate books.

I tried to read The Golden Compass about three times and I couldn't read it.

But I liked it, I just found more interesting books to read.

I had to try reading The Golden Compass several times also, before I picked it up again and finnished it. I liked it, but it got a little slow at certain parts. You should try and find it in separate books so it is easy to carry around.

Forget the massive book idea. Just tell me if I should read this.

I personally have not read it, but my mother says that author has written... bad stuff... so I have purposefully avoided reading his work.

From what I've heard, it's not neccesarily bad, but it would definitely go against your religious beliefs. You probably wouldn't like it.

I've read the trilogy and enjoyed it. The reader should remember that it's fantasy, not realistic.

Well, I don't remember what she said. She might've just said I shouldn't read it.

I haven't read it yet, but I'd like to eventually.
