This is exactly

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book first sentences.
This is exactly...

This is exactly what it sounds liKe. It iS a book Quote first sentences. One person types a first sentence and the rest of us try to GueSS what book it is from. I'lL start:

"A stretch of black rocks swept by a wind heavy with sleet. The lead-gray sky. The sea is a vast expanse crashing against the reef."

 Remember, I will give out hints if needed.

P.S. Just discovered this site. It's awesome, I didn't know Cricket, the mag, had a website! Oh, one more thing, could somebody please tell me who Admin is?

We Admins (there are 3 of us) review all comments before posting them. We also work on various other parts of the magazines.

@Mabel E.

Did you realize you have weird capitalization in this thread, or is that on purpose?

Moby Dick?  Nah, probably not.

The first sentence of Moby Dick is actually quite famous... So I bet somebody could quote what it actually is, but I won't because I already know.

I think it's Pollyanna or Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm /whatever its real title is.  I think...

Those are two different books, not one and the same.

P.S. @Admin: what does 'Top!' mEan?

When someone submits a reply to a comment, posting that reply often sends the whole thread to a back page of Chatterbox. Then posting a second reply will bring it back to the front /top again. So people submit a comment saying "top," just to move a thread from the back to the front. We didn't set the site up this way intentionally, but we can't fix it, so savvy Chatterboxes have just learned to deal with it!
