The Iliad
I was on...

I was on a whim to start the classic book The Iliad and I like it so far. It can be hard to understand sometimes, but I am dealing with it pretty well. Have you buggies ever heard of the Iliad?

I have heard of the Iliad! I have read the entire Iliad (except I skipped a bunch of Book Two, because Homer was like, "and next to them were the Yadas from Thicily, and next to them were the Bladas from Bladi..." and ON AND ON for twenty pages. Then I wrote an essay on the Iliad, in which I adequately proved that Achilles was a selfish, arrogant idiot, Agammemnon had power issues and needed therapy, Patroclus was just crazy, and that Hector was the only hero in the Iliad. And I had to memorize a short passage for class.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't like the ending. I mean, COME ON, yes, I know it's ancient Greece, and yes, I know it's Homer, and yes, I know it's a tragedy because I watched part of the movie, and then after I read the Iliad the whole of Troy for extra credit, but seriously, Homer? You really should have killed off somebody else.

There were some pretty cool names in Book Two, though.

I've wanted to read this, but, personally, I prefer ancient Rome to ancient Greece.

I know the main idea of it, because I took world history last year, but I've never read the actual thing.  I like what I know about it, though.

I got it from the library...seriously, it looks like the most massive book I have ever seen since Eragon.
