I love old...
I love old fashioned stories. Duh. I mean, I've read every Louisa May Alcott book, every novel L.M.Montgomery wrote and I'm gazing loningly at my mom's Austena and Dickens collection until high school when she'll let me read them.
So this is just a place to talk about your favorite books written at least a hundred years ago. Just as long as it was written before 1950. (I'd go earlier, but L.M.Montgomery's book are written then, even though they take place earlier. But you know what I mean.)
Five Little Peppers
I'll have to check the dates on some of my other old favorites.

First of all, I just posted but it didn't seem to take note of my comment. :/ Maybe it'll show up.
Secondly, your Mom won't let you read Dickens? Why? He's so great!

Les Misérables.
*is shot*
Outside of that: I don't care for Dickens. I tried to read Austen once but abandoned her in favour of Naomi Novik, which is set in the same time period but with dragons, and as such is exponentially more awesome. (You do realise that Dickens is nineteenth century, right, and Austen is late eighteenth?)

Yes, ZNZ, I realize that, I was being general.
As for Elizabeth's comment, it's not so much that my Mom doesn't want me to read it then me being daunted by the length. The first sentence in The Pickwick Papers is a paragraph long.

Oh wow! That is long. :) You should look at Henry James sometime, talk about long. I recommend you start with Great Expectations. I think it's easier than the other Dickens stories.

I loved the abridged versions, but I don't have the patience to read older books. It takes me too long and I get bored of it.
Alice in Wonderland, however, is an exception. That was amazing and not as hard to read!
