Chatterbox: Blab About Books

I Am Number Four
I just finished...

I just finished reading this book.  Before I go and say things that will make people mad, what are everybuggy's thoughts on this book?  Okay... I'll talk anyway.  So first off, I wish John was older.  Even if just a year.  Maybe it's just because he's my age, and a kid being my age and so much in love is kinda weird for me, but I still wish he was older anyhow.  Also, I really didn't think much of the author's writing.  He used the same descriptive words over and over, and even though there was bad language and the book is obviously meant for an older audience, he still wrote the book poorly.  The general idea isn't so bad- in fact, it's quite creative. But a lot remains unknown at the end of the book (although the answers could be in the sequel).  Oh, is the sequel worth reading?  And the battle scene seemed to last forever with the "I'm going to die" "Oh, yay, I was saved!" "Oh, shoot, I'm about to die again" "yay, I'm stiill alive!" kind of thing.  But overall, it wasn't a terrible book.

I agree with you about Lore's whole writing style.

Yes, a lot of question are answered in the sequel, The Power of Six, but this is one thing that Lore likes to do: he likes to make a lot things happen at once. In the space of two chapters, at the end of the Power of Six, he introduces a completely new character who's probably going to end up being very important, makes a few people disappear, pull this person from all the way over there, and yeah.

But it's still pretty good.

Alright, well I'll probably read it... just because. :)  The movie was awful.  I watched it last night.  It didn't follow the book very well, and John's whole character was a jerk!  He was so mean I almost wanted something bad to happen to him.
