Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Warriors
Eell, I`m reading...

Eell, I`m reading this series about these cats called Warriors who make no sense at all! They have way too many battles! And there're way too many deaths!

Personally I think it would be more interesting if they were wolves.  It would be less confusing.

I know!!!!!! They are SO annoying.

It's like the author really really wants to make it the most tragic children's seires on Earth!

Yes, well, that's certainly a reason not to criticise it. After all, one must always be positive about everything that people like. </sarcasm>

I tried to read this series. It was so confusing three pages in; I kept having to turn to the front page for the character index. >:( The names are all the same: Firepelt and Bluestorm, Greenpaw and Tigerclaw. *annoyed*

In my experiences, all books with a character index WILL BE CONFUSING because the author is too lazy to actually introduce them so they just write up the index. (Except for Inkspell and Inkdeath)

I read the first Warriors cats book. I thought it was okay, but not one of the best books I ever read. Personally, I don't think the deaths were that dramatic or depressing so I don't know if I'd call it the most depressing children's book. I think the plot would be quite interesting with wolves or other wild dogs. Warriors roleplays can be pretty interesting, I must admit, though I've only been in one. :)

I just have to laugh, because a couple years ago almost the entire BaB was FULL of Warriors threads, either RPs or threads talking about how good it was, so I just have to say that a lot has changed. Carry on with your conversation.

*blinkblink* Eh? I like the Warriors books. Maybe they're not as much of a children's series as you initially thought. Sure they have some problems *coughstarclancough* but I noticed all the complaints on here are really really vague...

What is it that you disliked about StarClan so much? I thought the series was okay, but it kept getting worse and worse because the plot kept repeating itself. Also, the second series was way too much like a far inferior version of Watership Down, in my opinion. I don't understand about StarClan, though; I never really had much of an opinion about it, but I think I did like it... Mostly, I'm just wondering what was wrong with it.

Well, on a few rare occasions StarClan is cool. But they spend most of the time being completely useless. They talk in riddles when they could give straight answers, they won't just come forward and tell the cats "by the way, when the moon clouds over, we have nothing to do with it," they LET the cats think they're dipleased when they're not or vice versa, and if some cat is falsifying a prophecy, they don't even come forward to tell anyone the truth. They command secrecy when it only complacates things, (if cats needed convincing about what needed to be done, couldn't they just send a sign?) And when cats try to consult them about major decisions, they stay totally silent for no good reason whatsoever. They won't help settle disputes over who is the rightful leader, even when everyone wishes they would. And they won't lay down the warrior code once and for all, complete with any exceptions it may have.

And they are PERFECTLY CAPABLE of doing ANY of that stuff!

Also I thought it was wierd that they were talking to dead spirits anyway.

I read the original 6, but couldn't go on after that. (diplomatic turn to the conversation coming up right here -->) I think it was pretty good, but all the continuing series's (Is that right?) just got to be too confusing. I liked the plot but thought that sometimes it got a little too repetative, like this guy dies and this guy is banished, this guy ends up in different Clan then other guy comes back, then this guy dies and this guy is banished, this guy ends up...etc.

I thought the first book was pretty good, but after that they just got really boring and repetitive. This guy dies, that Clan fights, another guy dies, someone has kittens, hey look there goes another guy, that guy gets a new name, etc. By the end, I was just reading to find out what happened. Also, they were really confusing! Sandpaw and Ravenpelt and Firepaw-oh no wait, now he's Fireheart!- and Tigerclaw and Bluestar and Pumpkinhead and GAHHHHH!! TOO MANY CATS!! I'M DROWNING!!!
