Island of the Blue Dolphins

This book by Scott O'Dell is like a girl version of Robinson Crusoe, but I think that boys should read this book before deciding that. The story is about a twenty-four year old girl who lives in the island of Ghalas-at, in Coral Cove. She was left behind when her tribe left the island, and gathers food, makes shelter, tools, fights her enemies, wild dogs, and explores the island, looking for a way to escape. Has anyone else read this book and enjoyed it? If not,I recomend it.

I haven't read Robinson Crusoe, but I think the stories are quite different so maybe that's not a good comparison. I read The Island of Blue Dolphins when I was seven. It was absolutely amazing and truly sad. It's one of the best books I've ever read, if I remember correctly.
