Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Oh my gosh, I GOTTA READ THAT!
What books do...

What books do you have a burning, itching desire to read? Does your local library have them? And if they don't, do you spend the day crying or going to a bookstore? And then what do you do if they aren't THERE? Use this thread to discuss books that you simply MUST READ!

I really want to find the Ultimate Guide to Walt Disney World 2012, because I <3 that series of guidebook, but they only sell it online or at the parks!!!!!  AAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And also, I can't find the first Pretty Little Liars anywhere!  I only saw it once at a used bookstore, but they had a Wendy Mass book, so I got that one instead.  And am now regretting my desicon.

@Ima- I've looked up Gail Carson Levine and the name of the woman who wrote the Books of Bayern. Nothing at all. It's sad. If you skimmed through the shelves in the Young Adult section then more than half are "bad". I'm not always interested in the Childrens' Books either... Most of them are cheesy horse stories. There are more fantasy and adventure books, though...

I want to read the Mysterious Benedict Society and the other Hunger Games books! I got the first one at a tiny library under construction in a tiny town on Long Island, NY when I went on vacation, but the others are nowhere to be found. Also, I'm dying for some books in a series to come out. Like the next Septimus Heap book and the last Sisters Grimm!

@Lizzy: I've only seen The Tale of Two Castles in bookstores since it came out very recently. I was so excited to get it just a few days after it came out! In my opinion, it was definitely worth buying.

@Elizabeth M.: I hate that! Even worse than Teen Love is Teen Vampire Love. Ugh, seriously people! Would it kill you to think of a plot for your story that isn't a retelling of Twilight?

@Elizabeth M.: Since there's a good chance that I'm not allowed to read 1/2 of the Young Adult novels in my library, I normally stay in the Children's area or put certain books on hold. The Children's area in the libraries in Mississauga that I've been to aren't that bad- in fact, most of the Levine books are in the Children's section. :)

@Analesia: Is there a Chapters nearby? Or a Coles or Indigo? (They're basically the same store... whatever) I've found the PLL series in every single Chapters I've been to.

I really want to read Angel from the Maximum Ride series, but my parents saw the back of the cover so I'm not allowed to anymore...

@ Olive

Nope.  I've never even heard of those stores before you mentioned them.  We only have Barnes and Noble, Borders (but they all closed), and a few independant bookstores .

its really weird that your libraries are like that. The Austin Public Library system has all the Young Adult books in one section, whether or not they are romance, action, andventure, sci fi, fantasy, or none of the above.

Independant bookstores can be nice because they tend to sell what the store owners actually consider good books rather than just the bestsellers. I met Gail Carson Levine at an independant bookstore. /irrelevant tangent

@Analesia: Oh. Chapters is Canadian. Just found that out. Oops.

On the Barnes and Noble website, you can buy the Pretty Little Liars books. And Sara Shepherd (the author) released two new books: The Lying Games and The Lying Games #2: Never Have I Ever.

They sound pretty awesome.

Can't see Ima's comment right now.
