Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book List
Still getting used...

Still getting used to writing 18. Took me three tries. *shakes head sadly*

Anyhow, I just got my book list for my first course at Cornell (Introduction to Literary Studies).

It consists of A Handbook to Literature 12th ed. by William Harmon, Doing English 3rd ed. by Robert Eaglestone, Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M. Coetzee, Poetry: An Introduction by Michael Meyer, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Yes. My school is officially the best college ever.

Cool! Great literature deals with universal themes such as good vs. evil, friendship, quest, love, etc.

That's really neat! I bet you're excited. When do you start school? Are you majoring in Literature or English, then, TNO?

Double majoring in Theatre and English, actually. And I leave on August 27th for freshman orientation, and then school starts a week after that.

That is amazing! Congratulations! I really envy you, having such a good excuse to overanalyze.

And I can totally use this in the whole "Harry Potter has no real literary merit because it isn't a college level book!" argument, too.
