So technically the Uglies series isn't a trilogy if you count the fourth book Extras which isn't about Tally (the MC) but is in Tally's world during Tally's time.
Anyways, has anyone read this series? As in the first three books? What did you guys think?

I read all of them and mostly liked them. I seem to remember that some parts were a little cliched, but I read them last year and can't say for sure. The writing was very good. Some parts were pretty scary because of how realistic they were.

I read all of them, including Extras, and they were pretty good. I think Pretties was the best, but I didn't like Specials very much. @Amy: I agree, some parts were kind of scary. Also, if you do decide to read them, make sure that you can get ALL of them. The Uglies not-exactly-trilogy is the kind of series where you can't stop in the middle. I just read them because I was bored :-)
Random fact: The fourth book, Extras, is about a girl named Aya. I was laughing so hard, because Aya is what my little sister used to call me because she couldn't pronounce my name!

Yeah I read those books and I thought they were pretty good.

Are those about those mini monster looking thingies called uglie dolls? If not, I am embarrassed. What are these about?

@Elizabeth M.: Oh boy, this is going to be a toughie. How to explain Uglies? Uh, well:
In the future, starting at age 12 and until age 16, you're known as an "Ugly". (11 YOs and under are known as "littlies") At 16 YOs, you get an operation that turns you into a "Pretty". And Pretties are just that: Pretty.
New Pretties, Pretties who became Pretty not-so-long-ago, live in New Pretty Town. The Uglies live in the Ugly part of town, the Littlies in the Suburbs with their parents who are (normally) Middle Pretties. And so on.
Anyways, Tally Youngblood is waiting to turn Pretty and, to make matters worse, her best friend Peris was already Pretty and had seemingly forgotten Tally. So when a prank causes Tally to meet Shay the two bond quickly, since all their friends are Pretty. Or are they?
Suddenly, Tally's world is flipped upside-down as Shay runs away a few days (I think) before the two's 16th birthdays. (Tally and Shay share the same birthday) And, I think I'm quoting the back of the book, Tally is sent to find Shay and learns there's a whole other side to the Pretties. And it's not that pretty...
*headdesk* That sounds so cheesy! And I'm pretty sure I ripped the last sentence off from the Uglies back cover. But the series is really good! Especially if you like sci-fi. :)

This sounds very interesting and complex? I may try them out! Who wrote them?

Scott Westerfeld.
