They ran, of course. It would have been slightly more irritating if Morana hadn't been expecting it. She gave them a count of ten, then vaulted into the newly vacated room and started after them. Without a young, slightly terrified halfbreed in tow, she caught up to them rather quickly, cornering them in an alley on one side of the motel.

She smiled, enjoyed the smell of fear roiling off them in waves.

"What do you want?" The tall one, the leader, the vampire.

Morana shrugged. "To say hello. And to warn you. This town is dangerous for our kind. We're not the top of the proverbial food chain here."

"You're here."

"I'm the exception." She smiled again, showing fangs. The other vampire flinched. "But, if you want to risk it... be my guest." She turned to go, only to stop a second later when the vampire spoke again.

"Why bother warning us?"

Morana glanced over her shoulder, smirking. "Out of the goodness of my heart, I suppose." She flashed them another smile, and vaulted onto the rooftops. The rain had abated somewhat, and in its absence she heard the howling begin. Wild, broken, boiling with hate.

She shuddered in spite of herself. The pack was hunting.

OK, yes, I'm still Jyrothe, I'm not leaving.  But.  I'm actually really confused here.  So.

Vampires/dhampyrs (or however TNÖ spelled it)

Juliana

Mela

Morana

Werepires/werewolfs/whatever they are

Aline

Mos/Mozzy

Jyrothe/Me

Am I missing anyone?  And is Morana seeing Mela and Juliana in the window?  I'm afraid that post needs a word or two of explanation for my crocodile brain...

No, you're not missing anyone, and Yes, she did. I think. That was my intent, anyway.

Okay, thanks :).  That clears it up a bit.  I'll wait to post until I get the flavor of things a bit more...  also I'm not quite sure what the relation is between werewolfs/werepires and vampires/dhampyrs... are they enemies?  If so, why?

@Oregano: The werepires hate the vamps because they think the vamps Turned them.

Is Turned supposed to be capitalized? And how fast are werepires, vamps, and werewolves again?

//Aline//

I sniffed the air. A flavourful scent lingered in it. Flavourful scents. I licked my lips in anticipation. The only type of creature with blood that diverse-smelling was a vampire.

"Aline," said the pack leader. I turned to look at him. "Try not to cause too much of a bloodbath this time. We don't want any humans on our trail."

"Of course, sir," I replied. "There are only." I sniffed the air. "Two or three vamps." The leader nodded, giving me the signal that I was dismissed. I ran off.

I arrived at the location of the scent quickly, my werewolf body and vampire powers making me faster than a cheetah. It was a small shabby motel. I snorted. The defences were weak, and there wasn't even a strong stench to cover the vampires' blood-smell.

I shifted out of werewolf form and became human again. Or vampire. Then I walked into the motel.

I watched Aline slip out of her werepire form, listening to the howling of the pack from several blocks away.  Vampires.  Ha!  Hateful creatures.  I snarled at the thought.

Aline's scent faded quickly in the wind and the rain.  I transformed, back to a vampire - ugh! - form, and went into the motel.  Always better to have two.  Aline and I stick together.  Well, not quite.  I stick to Aline.  She rarely notices, though.

"What are you doing here?"

I whip around with an inward groan. I can hear Aline now.  Never leave your back unguarded.  Argh.  Aah!

I sigh.  "Aline.  I followed you."

Her turn to sigh.  "Come along then."

[[OOC: Goody yay!]]

We walk down the hall, Aline leading.  Suddenly my ninth sense starts tingling.  "Aline!  Duck!"

We fall flat on the floor.  Something whizzes past where our heads were a second ago.  I clamp my hands over my ears, squeezing my eyes shut, and a huge crash sounds. I twist around.  There's a hole in a dresser, and the hole is smoking slightly.

"Bad," says Aline.  "We've triggered the defense mechanism.  Run!"  We sprint down the hallway, leaping over tripwires, dodging swinging axes.  "It's all your fault!"  she complains.  "I could have slipped past very well, thanks, but you had to follow, you had to make it two instead of one!  Jy, this is a simple mission!"  We crouch behind a sofa as the TV blows out, hit by the axe.

"Quick!"  I hiss.  "The exit, that way!  Now!"  We dive out the door.

We run up and up the stairs.  "The leader said keep it quiet!" she continues.  "And now you've gone and practically blown up the motel!"  She finishes in a shout, completely worked up, and heads start to poke out doors.

"The roof!" I yell.  I'm not sure if I'm smelling smoke.

"Are you crazy!" she yells back, flinging open the door.  "You know I can't -- "  She breaks off.

A vampire girl running across the rooftops toward us freezes, and stares.  Then she bolts off to the right.

"Come on, follow her!" I yell at Aline, grabbing her wrist.

"No!" she screams, yanking it away.  "There were two or three!  They've split up!  They'll go in opposite directions - we'll have to split up too -"

"Okay, okay!" I say, exasperated.  "I'll follow her, you find the others.  OKAY??!"  I sprint off again without waiting for an answer.

Mela—

The vampire in front of us suddenly stopped in her tracks, sniffing the air. “They’re coming.” She whispered under her breath.

She turned to us once more, “I would run if I were you. Thewolves are coming.” She calmly finished and started to sniff the air again.

Wolves? Did she mean The Wolves? Or the werepires? I’d onlymet them once. Blood thirsty, evil and even stronger than normal were wolves.

“Juliana, we have to go.” I grabbed her little arm.

“Why?”

For once I didn’t answer, the scent came closer and mynostrils burned. Juliana turned around, “Look!” She raised her little hand andpointed at a dark shape somewhere down the alley.

“JULIANA!” I screamed and hefted the little girl onto my back.

I ran with speed down the cold alley. I heard heaving breathsbehind us and a mixed werewolf and vampire stench filled my nose once more.

Whatever it was, was following us. I couldn’t let it getJuliana or myself. It would most likely kill us at its arrival.

I felt Juliana’s arms tighten around my throat. I breathed inthe scent of the creature once more.

“I’m hungry.” Juliana whispered.

I knew she would be and I had to get her out of harm’s way.

I sprang onto a building. It was grey with spray paint coveredwalls.

Another loud pant.

I was at the top and the thing was still following us.

I felt the hand too late that pulled us down. It had pulled atJuliana.

“MELA!” Her little voice echoed through the night.

The creature had her.

I turned and dived onto the thing. I forced him down andgrabbed Juliana’s elbow.

We fell from the building. I still tried to get Juliana out ofthe thing’s grip.

We hit the sidewalk hard with a hard noise. I heard Julianacry out in pain. I had fallen onto the creature’s arm and just now could studyhis features.

A boy, I couldn’t say how old. He had dark eyes, pale skin andblack short cropped hair.

“What do you want?” I hissed.

He didn’t say anything, just grabbed Juliana and I and draggedus down the street.

What does OOC mean?

And someone needs to take over Jyrothe for Oregano, since she left... :(

//Aline//

I was annoyed. That little boy had followed me. The nerve.

As I was stalking away, I heard cries in the distance and stopped and sniffed. Vampires and a werepire. Jyrothe has the vamps.

I sniffed more in the direction I was supposed to go. I smelled vampire as well, but this one was odd. It was more... tainted. More dangerous-scented. And it didn't carry the scent a vampire would usually have, one that was unique that other vampires would have. One that would say what coven it belonged to, if it belonged to one.

No, this one smelled different. Not like any coven I've ever traced. And I've traced a lot of covens. No. This one was probably a rogue, possibly a for-hire assassin.

The leader would probably prefer this one to two predictable vampires. One of them a Youngling.

I ignored the cries from the direction I came from and continued on.

Where's this supposed to be, by the way? Forks? Transylvania? Chicago?

And APC says zmrt. Z-Mart? Is that like K-Mart?

((Out of Character. I think.

Also, Chicago suits me fine. I like Chicago. Second best city on the planet, y/y?

And Z-Mart, obviously, means Zombie-Mart. Zombies need to grocery shop too, you know.))

Morana left sheets of ice on the rooftops behind her. She could deal with werepires, she had dealt with them before, but she wasn't about to make it easy for this one to catch her. There was no sense in taking unnecessary risks.

Vaguely, she hoped that the other two had gotten away. It would be a shame to lose such an interesting case study. Caius, certainly, would be displeased. She smirked. So would Stefan.

The eerie snarl of her pursuer, closer than it had been a few minutes ago, dragged her back to the present.

Stride, stride, lunge, take a corner so fast the legs almost spin out from underneath. Jump. Land, roll to recover. Keep going. Speed is important, destination distinctly less so. Don't look back.

The sharp smell of fresh blood slammed into her as the wind started to pick up. Female. Early twenties. B negative. Still alive.

Morana veered towards the smell. If anything could hide her scent from the werepire, it was newly spilled human blood. She reached the point of origin, jumped over the narrow little alley, and then changed course again by almost 180 degrees. Blood was all well and good but she wasn't dim enough to stay upwind of a werepire.

Faster.

I struggled to get loose from whatever was holding me.

"Stop hurting me!!!" I yelled but the thing just grabbed me tighter.  We were stuck in his massive arms, bobbing up and down because of how he was running and dragging us.

I wondered if this ... thing... was an enemy.  I tried my hardest to use my ability, I knew it was working but the beast must have been really strong because he only flinched and kept running.  I knew it would work better if I was at a distance, Mela had taught me that. I tried once more to get away from him while hurting him at the same time to weaken him.  It was working!! I was getting out of his grip!

As soon as his grip was loose enough I kicked as hard as I could and managed to throw myself a few feet away from him.  I instantly ran a little farther and tried my hardest to hurt him with my ability.

"Yes! Mela get out!!" I screamed.  The thing which I had just realized smelled a lot like a werewolf (yuck what a rotten smell) was cringing and Mela kicked her way out.

Mela grabbed me, put me on her shoulder and started running as fast as she could.  We had a head start since the creature was still regaining his strength but he was a little faster than us.

"Good job Juliana" Mela congratulated me while still running.
