Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I know there've been threads on this before, but thery're old, and I've something new to say. When I met Kimmie and Becka, we talked about aSoUE, and we were wondering how Sicket came up with all his ideas. Well, I just read a great essay on The Quiet World (a Snicket website), and it turns out it was based on the life of EAP! Loosely, I mean. I mean, not to a great degree, but of aSoUE were real, EAP would definitely have been a member of VFD. Anyway, that isn't worth an entire thread, so let's talk about both groups of books! I love aSoUE; I've read all 13 books and the Beatrice letters and plan to read Snicket's other books and listen to The Tragic Treasury. I've read The Raven and Annabell Lee by Poe, and both were excellent! I highly recommend both authors.

I love Series of Unfortunate Events and it only made me a little depressed : ( Never heard of the Beatrice Letters or the Tragic Treasury. (Though I can imagine what they're like.)
For my English class I read Poe's "The Tell Tale Heart" and "The Murder in the Rue Morgue" and was a bit creeped out! I have read Sherlock Holmes and Conan Doyle copied the detective style of Poe completely. As for "The Raven" a while ago I had to memorize it (yes the whole thing) and it got very stuck in my head.
Since Poe lived in Philadelphia they have his house made into a museum and my English class went there. The rooms are bare but the tour guide was very good and made everything come alive for us. Oh, I guess I shouldn't have said I live in Philly, but I just won't say anything specific.

I finished aSoUE in either Grade 3, the summer before Grade 4, or in Grade 4. I've also read The Beatrice Letters but I haven't heard of The Tragic Treasury. :)

I enjoyed the Snicket books although I only got to the fourth. They're a little odd... I have a whole collection of POe that I is waiting to be read.
