So, I talked
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Twilight vs. Harry Potter and Percy Jackson
So, I talked...
So, I talked about this on our last debate. It doesn't matter if you like Twilight or not and vise versa. Remember everyone has their own opinions so there is no need to get mad at anything. That's all. Ready, set... DEBATE!

I haven't actually read The Twilight series, but my sister read them and said the first one was all right but not that well written and the rest were almost all the same as each other. I have also heard that there is a lot of romance in them. I am really not a big fan of romance, I only like a small amount in a lot of adventure. I might read them sometime just to see if they're any good.
Another thing about them is that I don't think I would be very interested in a book about vampires. To those who have read them, do the books have any plot like saving the world or anything or is it just there personal problems with being vampires and werewolves?

Elizabeth D, what part of Texas are you in?? I'm on Austin...

Top!!!

Yeah! FUNNESS!!
Wait, as in, who would win in a battle? Oh well, I'll just go with that. Ok, so Edward would sparkle randomly while Percy splashes him with forceful water, Annabeth would make him feel bad with awesome brainiac stuff, Grover would pelt him with tin cans, and Harry would stand there, playing with his wand until everyone gets bored with him and then would use the Killing Curse. So there. Ha.

Well, Elizabeth D. it's mostly bad things happening between werewolves and vampires. I would say you should read them just to see if you like them. I do *feels guilty* except sometimes the scenes are a little to romantic. (I don't need to know a lot about what kisses feel like...)

I've never read Twilight and don't ever plan on it, so I'm afraid I can't participate in this debate very much. All I know is the Twilight movies look stupid and Edward aka RobPat is ugly. Very ugly. And I don't know about the books but I won't ever be reading them. That is all I have to say. ;)

Usually I stand aloof from these kinds of debates, because I hate HP and Twilight, and as for Percy...It's really entertaining, but that's all I'm saying. But ZB, when I read your comment, I started laughing. Out Loud. And I don't usually do that. Okay, I just read "and Grover would plat him tin cans" and I started laughing all over again! LOL!!!

Okee, basically, Twilight's about a vampire who stalks people and sparkles, a werewolf who falls in love with someone older than him and then (spoiler) a baby, and a horribile and frail protagnist named Bella. Oh, and on the sidelines, there're a pack of other werewolves, a pack (or clan) of other vampires, and some assassin vampire people. :P
I'll post more later, I'm at school right now in the computer lab and the bell's going to ring soon. I think.

I am not allowed to read, or see Twilight. I think werewolves and vampires are evil. Now, with that being said, PJ and HP are better. I am not saying HP is my favorite, but it's better than Twilight. And I think that HP is also evil, so I am not allowed to read or see it either. So my point (I think) has been stated.
And Elizabeth, no offense, but please don't make another thread about HP, PJ, or Twilight. Theres been enough strife.
I think everyone has been doing a good job with the friendly debating so far! But Vida's right, we should try to make sure nobody gets offended like last time. -Admin

Dahling, when stating that books that other people like are "evil," one must always endeavour to explain one's feelings. Of course, one would be wise to not go around calling things evil.
I am of the opinion that werewolves, vampires (real ones, natch), and HP are all awesomeful, and not at all evil.
Also, when there's a difference of opinion, it's polite to preface one's opinion with "I think," thereby acknowledging the possibility that others may not agree with you. E.g., I think Book A is poorly written.

Actually, I don't find them evil either...
@ Vida-- WHy are they evil???

Maybe no one goes to church then. I think they are evil, so are sorcerers. And no, I do not have a wired religion, I am undenominational.
Please, I do not want to get into all this. I am not being rude in my other comment when I said they are evil.
Vida, I've changed your previous comment to say "I think" they are evil. We respect your right to believe that, but also respect the rights of others who enjoy these fantasy/fiction books. And I think anyone who's been reading comments for even a few weeks knows that many Chatterboxers do go to church. Admins, too.

Personally, I don't think the "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" thing automatically qualifies every single fictional story that involves magic-weilding people in some way as evil. And I'm nondenominational too, so I wouldn't worry about the "weird religion" stigma.
I think the major reason HP gets labeled as "evil" is that the people who fervently believe it's about summoning demons are really, really vocal, and a lot of people took their word for it on principle of "well if it's really like that, I shouldn't even consider reading it for myself!", and it snowballed from there. Because, frankly, HP isn't like that at all.

Big thumbs up and huge smily face, Vida. You said it all.

@RD-- I agree with you on the Rob Rat thing. I mean I still don't see how Bella could fall in love with him. And Kirsten Stewart is not a good actress... I mean I have to stifle giggles when she "hyperventiates".
