Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Noel Streatfeild and Elizabeth Enright
Has anyone read...

Has anyone read any books by these authors? I have found hardly anybody who has read them. The books are amazing. By Noel Streatfeild (An English author) I have read Circus Shoes, Skating Shoes, Theater Shoes, Ballet Shoes, Apple Bough, ( Also known as Traveling Shoes) Tennis Shoes, Party Shoes, and Dancing Shoes. The only one I haven't read is Family Shoes. All of them except for Ballet Shoes and Tennis Shoes were renamed when they were published in America, I believe. If you want their English names then I can post them. By Elizabeth Enright ( An American author) I have read Gone-Away Lake and Return To Gone-Away Lake, The Melendy Quartet ( A series of four books), Thimble Summer, Tatsinda, and another one of which I don't recall it's name.

I've read A Vicarage Family by Noel Streatfeild. And I saw a wonderful movie about 3 orphan girls (in London, I think) who were adopted and all took dancing. I think it may have been based upon either Ballet Shoes or Dancing Shoes, but I'm not sure about that.

I saw the movie for Ballet Shoes. It was very sweet. Are the books good?

@Admin

Yeah I heard of that movie. It was based on Ballet Shoes.

I forgot to mention in my post that I have read all but Family Shoes of the shoe books. There are a lot more books by Noel Streatfeild that I have not read.

The girl who dances amazingly? Do all the books follow the same characters?

The Duke of Captcha says road. You're on the road, Sir? May I ask why?

Yes! I love both of those authors, and have also never met anyone else who has even heard of them.

By Noel Streatfeild I have read all of the Shoes books except Circus Shoes and Family Shoes. I never knew Apple Bough had been renamed! I read it a long time ago at my grandma's house, and have been trying to find at the library or bookstore for a while. No wonder I could never find it! I'll have to look for Traveling Shoes instead.

I also really like the Melendy books by Elizabeth Enright, and my favorite one is The Four-Story Mistake. There was another I liked better than the other two, but I can't remember what it's called at the moment. I read Gone-Away Lake a few years ago, but don't remember what it's about.

What other ones has Noel Streatfeld written besides the Shoes books?

@Elizabeth: Are you ever going to get better from that cold? :)

Yes that girl. No they don't. Some like Movie Shoes and Theater Shoes have the three girls from Ballet Shoes except they are grown up and are not the main characters. A lot of them are at the same theartre and dance school that is in Ballet Shoes as well. Mainly each has its own storyline and characters.

So, different characters in each book!? Cool!

I really like Noel Streatfeild's books.  I only thought there was Ballet Shoes, Theater Shoes, Dancing Shoes, and Skating Shoes, though.  I'll have to look into that...

I really like ballet shoes but I found skating shoes a bit boring.

I watched the movie with my friend and really liked it!Laughing
