Chatterbox: Blab About Books

I just reread...

I just reread this book and remembered how COMPLETELY amazing it is.  It's the third book in the series, Fairy Tale Retold Novels by Regina Doman.  I've made a thread about those before.  It's such a romantic book, even though Fish couldn't be less romantic.... I just love it.  But you have to read them in order, starting with The Shadow of the BearBlack as Night, the second book, isn't as good as the first or third, but I still enjoyed it.  I recommend 11+ for language and themes and violence; I read them first when I was thirteen, and found some of the things hard to understand.  They're Catholic books, so I don't think you can just find them at the library.  But don't refuse these just because you aren't Catholic!  The fact that the main characters are Catholic has hardly anything to do with the books, besides them praying and going to Church and having strong pro-life feelings, and such. A WONDERFUL READ!!

What are they about? And when you say Catholic what do you mean?

Regina rewrites fairytales into modern times.  An example: Black as Night is a modern version of Snow White.  Instead of seven dwarves, there are seven monks who act mysteriously like the dwarves! :P  Well, since the author is Catholic and the main characters are mostly Catholic, the book has an overall "Catholic-y" feel.

I am in love with these books. Such a great series! Very thrilling! And even though I'm not Catholic, I still like that they pray and and are pro-life. Over all: great read!

Aren't they great?  Which team, Hannah, Fish or Bear?  I'm a Fish girl.  For sure.  My boy characters are kind of alike: Fish, Razo, Percy Jackson, Peeta... those are my favorite male book characters.  Anyway, Fish is amazing. Although Bear is awesome too.

Oh, totally Fish. Bear is great too, but I just like Fish the best for some reason. Gosh, anyone else reading this conversation would think were nuts! Bear, Fish...they would probably think were talking about a book with talking animals. :)

:):):):)  Yeah, I don't know what it is about Fish.  Maybe its the way Bear and Blanche became a couple.  It was very, obviously, fairytale like, but Rose and Fish's relationship just seemed more real.
