Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Book Quotes.
Okay, I am...
Okay, I am not trying to copy the book quote game..I just wanted to have a thread in which I could talk about my favorite book quotes.
"Here ends the SILMARILLION. If it has passed from the high and beautiful to darkness and ruin, that of old was the fate of Arda Marred, and if ayt change shall come and the Marring be amended, Manwe and Varda may know, but they have not declared it, and it is not declared in the dooms of Mandos."
--The Sillmarillion, JRRT.
"His heart almost misgave at the end, when he steppes upon the soundless shores and saw Taniquetil shining, whiter than snow, colder than death, silent, immutable, terrible as the shadow of the Light of Iluvatar."
--The Silmarillion, JRRT.

What's the Silmarillion about? Is JRRT the guy who wrote The Lord of the Rings?
(December 30, 2010 - 4:59 am)
Yeah, he is. The Silmarillion is a history of Middle-earth before LotR.
(December 30, 2010 - 11:39 am)
Cool!! I've got to read it.

Can we post other quotes, too, and talk about them, and maybe also use this thread to talk about quotes in general (in addition to specific ones we like, I mean)?
Anyway, yours are wonderful. I love them both; Tolkien is an amazing writer. My favorite of the 2 is the first. Do you have anything specific to say about them, or did you just want to share them?
Aetc says bemu. Ben the emu? Be emu? Or is he bemused?

"You are okay?" he asked "Not eaten by monsters?" "Not even a little bit" I showed him that I still had both arms and both legs, and Tyson clapped happily "Yay!" he said. "Now we can eat peanut butter sandwiches and ride fish ponies! We can fight monsters and watch Annabeth make things go BOOM!" I hoped he didn't mean all at the same time, but I told him absolutely, we'd have alot of fun this summer. -Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians; The Battle of the Labyrinth, 2008, spoken by the characters Tyson and Percy Jackson
"The real story of the Fleece: there were these two children of Zeus, Cadmus and Europa, okay? They were about to get offered up as human sacrifices, when they prayed to Zeus to save them. So Zeus sent this magical flying ram with golden wool, which picked them up in Greece and carried them all the way to Colchis in Asia Minor. Well, actually carried Cadmus. Europa fell of and died along the way, but that's not important."
"It was probably important to her." -Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians; The Sea of Monsters, 2006, spoken by the characters Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson
"I nodded, looking at Rachel with respect. "You hit the Lord of the Titans in the eye with a blue plastic hairbrush." -Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians; The Battle of the Labyrinth , 2008, spoken by the character Percy Jackson
After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure. -J.K. Rowling. "The Man with Two Faces," Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stones, 1997, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore.
It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. -J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 1999, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore

Argh, I can't think of any right now. ZB, you are just a tiny bit obsessed, if you don't mind me saying! :} If you lived close to me, I might think you were my friend. Except she likes Harry Potter better. And I really don't know where you live or how old you are, but personality wise, yes, you could be.
(January 2, 2011 - 6:47 pm)
@R~D~: I live in sunny California :) Yeah, I'm a tiny bit obsessed, you could say ;)

Let me get out my books. *rummages through Mary Poppins-style magical carpet bag and pulls out elephant food, rubber chicken and stack of books* *promptly puts elephant food and rubber chicken away*
"'I sent them to you because they were the dreams you were meant to have at that time,' Annie said carefully. "Without them, you would never have the chance to grow beyond them, to heal.'" from Phillipa Fisher and the Dream-Maker's Daughter by Liz Kessler
"'...The fairies couldn't cure me, Addie. I was too near death. So they offered me a way to live, a different way. It was a great honor.
'They offererd to transform me into a fairy, and I said yes.'" Said by Meryl, from The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine
"'We're married in the future, right?' Puck continued. 'You told me we were. At first the thought of marrying you made me sick. I mean, really physically ill. I was barfing and fevered. I spent a few days in bed with the chills, but then I realized, hey! Getting married might be the best thing that ever happened to me. I'll have someone to wait on me hand and foot. Having a wife is practically like having a slave, and I could really use the help. I hope you can cook, Grimm. I like to eat.'" from The Sisters Grimm: The Inside Story by Michael Buckley
"Jason scratched his head. 'You named him Festus? You know that in Latin, 'festus' means 'happy'? You want us to ride off to save the world on Happy the Dragon?'" from The Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero By Rick Riordan
"Finn was floating. The trapdoor had opened beneath him, but his DHI simply hovered. He was suspended ten feet above the evacuation chute, with only air beneath him." from Kingdom Keepers: Disney at Dawn by Ridley Pearson
Okay, I don't feel like pulling out the next book, so I will take a quote form one of my English papers that includes one of my favorite book quotes...
'He said, and I am reading this out of the book, “I’m saying, if you believe strongly enough, anything can happen.” The kids continue on with this quote to say people believe that the evil characters in fairy tales, even though they were defeated, did exist in those stories.' The book the original quote is from is Kingdom Keepers: Disney After Dark by Ridley Pearson
Okay, I guess that's it. For now. *evil laugh*

Ack! Analesia, please don't post quotes like that Bamare quote up there. Not everyone has read the book, and that's a major spoiler, especially since you said who said it. At least put in a spoiler warning, please.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I was wondering if I should put one in, but since no one else did, and theirs were semi revealing, I didn't put it in. I'll figure out a way to put one in.
