Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Um *feels bloated somehow* I am officialy obsessed with the Hunger Games (though I don't have enough sense to read Catching Fire right now, probably because I'm listening to music) so I went around searching for stuff about it. Most specifically, the movie.
Now, um, does this go in PP? Because it's about a movie, but it's about a movie based on a book. I'll move it if you guys think I should.
So's... Who do you think should play who? Most people (fans more specifically) think an unknown, or at least someone who isn't well known should play Katniss. MTV think Chloe Moretz should play Katniss, and some people think Dakota Fanning, so Elle Fanning (her lil' sis) can play Prim and they would look alike. Which is just wrong because Katniss and Prim aren't supposed to look alike. Who do you guys think should play Katniss? Or anyone else in general.
Ciao! Off to read Catching Fire!

I liked Hunger Games, was ambivalent about Catching Fire, and will read Mockingjay only because I have to for bookclub. Major sequelitis at play here.
As for the movie, I don't care about casting, except that Hugh Laurie should be Haymitch.

TNO(umlaut): Laurie would make a good Haymitch. Maybe. And Mockingjay's good. ;-)

taylor Lautner (how do you spell it) should be Gale. :)

Ew, no. If we *must* have a well known Twi actor in HG, let it be Jackson Rathbone. Because he can actually act (his performance was one of the only actually good parts of Avatar [with Shaun Toub and Dev Patel being the other good parts, of course]), and he wouldn't attract as many squealing fan girls (which is their loss, really, he's a better actor and better looking (when he isn't blond and smothered in paste anyway) than Lautner).

And House jumped the shark at the beginning of season four, so his talents would be put to much better use elsewhere. (*is still bitter about the replacement of the original ducklings*)
As to the quality of Mockingjay, we shall see. If it's anything resembling the plotline I'm expecting, it won't be much good. And from what I here the cancer- and ARS-stricken, nuclear winter'd District 13 that I was hoping for is not the route she chose to take, so... *shrug* We shall see.

Ummm I share your obsession.
Th film is going to be produced by Nina Jacobson, if my memory serves. I think Drew Roy should be Gale, Alex Pettyfer as Peeta. Maybe Lucy Hale, Lindsey Fonseca or Ashley Rickards as Katnisss? Kellan Lutz as Cato. (Eveyone criticizes me on that one, but I think he should be able to play something besides a sparkly vegan vampire.) Bella Thorne as Primrose? (It depends on how old she is now.) Haha Amy Poheler as Effie. That's all I got so far.

I love The Hunger Games, but I don't pay enough attention to individual actors to ever memorize their names, so I'm afraid I've no idea who should play who... But if Taylor Lautner is who I think he is, then no. Absolutely not. I will be very upset if he is in the Hunger Games movie, especially as Gale...

OK, I'm not actually referring to him in Twilight, I just think he would make a good Gale. Geez, I was only making a suggestion.
(October 17, 2010 - 11:31 pm)
Well, yes, you may have been thinking of him as an actor, not "Jacob", but do you think the kajillion Twihard preteens who have posters/cardboard cutouts/plushies of him in their bedrooms are going to share that opinion?
And by the same logic, do you think they wouldn't queue up at the theatre doors on HG's opening night just to see "Jacob" in a major role?
Which, quite frankly, does not sound pleasant to me.
...
That, and I'm prejudiced against Lautner because he has an ugly face. /shallow teenage predictability
