Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book lines.
I'm sure you...

I'm sure you have all come across this. You're reading a book, you're completely into it, then you read just one line and you have to think to yourself, this author is amazing. If you have (I'm sure you ALL have) come across one, here is the place to post it. Put down which book it's from, and if you want to, make up your own! Book Lines can be funny, imaginative, or emotional.

This one is from Harry Potter (book #1). It's on page 41.

Uncle Vernon, who had gone very pale, whispered something that sounded like 'Mimblewimble'.

Mimblewimble, I mean really? Mimblewimble? You have to admit it's awesome.

Guess what I'm going to post from. C'mon, guess.

Terry Pratchett! Yay PTerry! Here are some from Unseen Academicals:

... she said nonchalantly, or what she probably thought was nonchalantly, or what she might have thought was nonchalantly had she known there was a word like nonchalantly.

Juliet's version of cleanliness was next to godliness, which was to say that it was erratic, seldom seen, and past all understanding.

I love EHunters books and I haven't read Seeekrs.

"I now name [warrior that became deputy] as my new deputy."

Forest of Secrets pg. 310-312:

"No cat ever had a freind like you." -Graystripe

They had been through so much together.

And now it was all coming to and end.

"It won't be the same." -Fireheart

No more patrols, no more playfights after a day of hunting.

He felt a sadness and a lonliness greater than anything he had ever felt before,

That scene was litterally the only time i creid at a book. In Sunset when Firestar accepts that Graystripe is dead (but he isn't) almost made me cry. Almost.

Vick says tgnx.

"You simian-descended, equivocating, pronoun-starved little mortal
twerp!"

That was from A Wizard Alone, the 6th (I think) book in the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane.

I think it's from A Wizard's Dilemma, actually. (And this is the Obsessive One speaking.)

___

"'No, I will not move your planet! What do you want to move it for? It's fine right where it is!'" -- Dairine in A Wizard Abroad.
___

"'Percy, I said hello to the poodle. You say hello to the poodle.'

The poodle growled.

I said hello to the poodle." -- Annabeth and Percy in The Lightning Thief.
__

"This is the the copy of Advanced Potion-Making that you purchased from Flourish and Blotts?"

"Yes," said Harry firmly.

"Then why," asked Snape, "does it have the name 'Roonil Wazlib' written inside the front cover?" -- Snape and Harry in HPB.

But I got it from the website (as it always has a random quote displayed) and I thought it said AWA... but that was 2 days ago, so I don't remember how well I was remembering. You may be right... It was said by the Transcendent Pig...

Here's one from Three Days, by Donna Jo Napoli. I might have paragraphed it wrong. It's  on one of the last pages.

Antonia wouldn't miss it. She was dead. People die.

Kendra: It's also your turn to choose a book for the book club. ;-)

"Well, did you ask her?"

"Yeah."

"What'd she say?"

"She said yes, dummy."

"She said 'Yes dummy'?!"

"SHE said yes. YOU'RE the dummy!"

From Nothing To Fear (one of my new favorite books. I highly recommend it.)

"I accept that we humans have fairy neighbors below the planet's surface."

"Just like that?"

"Hardly. I have taken your story and cross-referenced it with the facts as I know them. The only other scenario that could explain everything that has happened, up to and including your own bizarre appearance, would be a convoluted conspiracy theory involving the Russian Mafiya and a crack team of plastic surgeons."

That was from The Opal Deception, the 4th book in the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer.

My favorite book line is in The Chamber of Secrets:

Harry- "Why does she always have to do that?"

Ron- "Because that's what Hermionie does, When in doubt, go to the library."

I have SO MANY more, but I can't remember them all!
