Hey admins! I

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

People who are new and have ?'s, come here!!!!
Hey admins! I...

Hey admins! I just had a couple of Q&A about Blab About Books. Like... oh yeah! When you post a new comment, why doesn't it show up right after you post it? And why does it take SO long? Why do you have to do the spam code thing? And what is this whole thing about the Warriors RP fight? And what is RP anyways? Please answer soon!!!

Every comment is reviewed by an administrator before posting, to be sure that nothing unsuitable or unkind is posted. We each have a lot of other responsibilities in addition to Chatterbox, so we may not get to all the comments right away. However, it is very rare that you'll have to wait more than one day for your comment to be posted, except on holidays.

RP stands for roleplay, a thread of comments in which each participant take a part and speaks for that character like an actor in a play.

Chatterboxers have started a lot of Warriors threads and roleplays, based  upon the book series about wild cats by Erin Hunter. So many threads, in fact, that other people complained that it was hard to find any threads about any other books. So we're not allowing any more new Warriors threads, at least for now.

The spam code is to make sure no automatic advertisements or such get into Chatterbox (at least I think that's it.  Admin?).  At one point, someone decided to name the spam box, yet no one ever really agreed, so you'll hear different names for it, usually like "_____ says xura".  Some of the more common names are Andy, Spamboy, and Bob.  Hope that clears things up!

That's right!

Well I'm not new, but I do have questions, so can I post please?

Admin,

Are people able to take tours of the Cricket headquarters?

Where can people sign up to be an Admin, and how old do you have to be?

On average, how many hours a day do you spend being an Admin?

Does being an Admin pay well? Or did you guys just volunteer?

Approximately how many books have you read this year, and which were your favorites?

-☺☻

We Admins also have other responsibilites in Cricket's editorial department. There are three of  us, and I spend an average of one hour or more a day (including weekends) reading and posting comments. And there are two others. I'm not sure how much time they spend. It all depends upon how many comments we receive. Any hiring of personnel goes through our human resources department, but I don't think we have any openings now. The youngest workers we've ever had have been college student interns. We editorial Admins do get paid, but the value of a job is not only in money but much more in how enjoyable and worthwhile the job is to the worker. And we really enjoy hearing from each and every one of you!

I'm not sure how many books I've read this year. Two of my favorites were Glory and the Lightning (historical fiction about Pericles and ancient Greece) and The Keeper's Son ( a novel set in coastal North Carolina during WW II). I love a good story that also teaches me about real life in another time and/or place. (I hope I got those titles right. I've passed the books on to my sister.) Another favorite: Lunch at the Igloo, true stories about growing up in Illinois during the Great Depression. I read a lot of magazines, too.

Thanks for answering all my questions, Admins! Now I have a few more:

Do you have a more specific date for when The Star Shard will be released?

What is your favorite movie?

What is your favorite animal?

Do you ever get tired of answering questions?

Spam Boy says aona. It sounds a bit like someones name.

-☺☻

We haven't heard a specific date for Star Shard. When we do, we'll post it. I don't get tired of answering questions, but I often have a hard time deciding how to answer! I really can't name one favorite movie or animal. There are so many different kinds of both. The movies that come to mind right now are Legally Blonde and To Kill a Mockingbird, but I like lots of others, too. I like mysteries and legal and historical dramas that teach me something. For animal, I'd say cat.

Oh so noble admins! I also have some questions for YOU!

Do you three work in one of those big office buildings in Los Angeles or New York or something? Or do you just use an office in your house?

How much distance is in between you and the other admins? (like if one is in Spain, another in England, and one in Asia)

If your answer to the previous question is a great distance, how do you communicate with each other?

I have decided to make a survey of everybody I can, so what is your favorite ice-cream, gum flavor, animal and color?

Two of us work in a big office building in Chicago, and the other one works from home. We communicate via e-mail.

Coffee ice cream, with or without chocolate chips. Cats. Blue (many shades), red, and pink. And I used to like Wrigley's spearmint gum (years ago), but then they chaged it to be more pepperminty, so I don't chew gum at all now unless I'm on an airplane taking off or landing.

Admins, I have some more questions for you:

What is your favorite number? Mine is 38. One time, in Character Ed., we were playing this game and we all had to sit in a circle. Everybody was assigned a number, 1-30.  We played to this tune:

Everybody: "Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Number __ stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

Number __: "Who me?"

Everybody else: "Yeah you!"

Number __: "Couldn't be!"

Everybody else: "Then who?"

Number __: "Number __ stole the cookie from the cookie jar!"

When it came to my turn, since we were suppose to say the first number that pops in your head, I said 38. Then we had to start all over again because the number had to be between 1 and 30.

What made you want to be an admin? Most jobs you get is either because that is what you have dreamed of your whole life, or, you did a survey on what you were most likely to became as an adult and you got that. Though I have only seen the second one in books and movies.

Is the admin I am talking to a WARRIORS  fan? I am, like, the most biggest Warriors fan in the WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My friend advised it to me, like, two months ago and I am already almost done with the 4th book of the 3rd series!

Is the admin I am talking to a pet owner? If so, how many pets do you have? If over 6, how do you manage? It must be pretty chaotic! I only have two cats, Morris and Tobey. They are the sweetest little things a girl can ask for! Tobey's the little baby who's a wimp but fights when he wants to, and Morris is the tough dude who eats fist and chases Tobey through the house. But when the want to, the Love each other. Like right now, they are sleeping together on my bed, like they have been doing for the past 5 1/2 hours! Cats are sleepy!

Spam boy says boow. He must be mad at someting. I wonder?

What made you want to be an admin? I was already working at Cricket, long before it had a Web site. Then the Chatterbox came along and I was asked to help post comments and other things on the Web site. It's fun to read all the various comments as they come in from all around the globe, and there's never a dull moment! Every day brings something new and interesting.

Is the admin I am talking to a WARRIORS  fan? Not very much . . . yet. I have a Warriors book in my To Read stack, but the stack is pretty high, so I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. I do enjoy all the roleplays and other comments that come in with all the creative character names. But I won't know if I'm a real fan till I read at least one book.

Is the admin I am talking to a pet owner? Not right now. We had a wonderful calico cat for almost 22 years. We were very sad when she finally died of old age, but she'd had a wonderful long life with us. Until her last years, she was a very high jumper and could play "volleyball" with a wad of paper. But she was not a mouser. (I guess we fed her too well.) One night we came home to a mouse eating a loaf of bread on the kitchen counter. Cinder was just sitting on the floor wide awake looking bored. Yes, cats sleep a lot. The biggest decision of their day: where to take the next nap.

Admin (the one Sarah just talked to), which Warriors book is in your to-read stack? Is it Into The Wild? Because, if it's not, it would be a good idea to read it first. The Warriors books have to be read in order. There are so many, you see, that the authors couldn't keep an adequate summary of each previous book inside every book that comes out, so they didn't bother, and we have to read them in order.

It's Dawn (Warriors The New Prophecy). It was a gift, and I figured I can read the one, then decide if I want to read more. Thanks for your advice though.

*GASP*  I've been trying to get that out of them for ages!!!!!!!!!!!

Tori, which one are you?????  And which one is the one who had to very patiently put up with all my depressing posts a few weeks ago, and which one is the one who's been to Santa Rosa???

I know I probably won't get any answers, which, in my opinion isn't fair.  Anyway, thanks for finally relenting!!!!!!

It's me, evening Admin, who's been to Santa Rosa.
