So, I liked them. I used to hate the main character, but now I disagree with my former self. Percy's okay, just not excellent. The same goes for Thalia, although she's basically the female version of him, and I really think that one of them is enough...
I have an interest in mythology, especially from Ancient Greece, so I liked this series a lot.
I think my favorite book out of them all was... Well, I'm really not sure. It's been too long since I've read them.
Artemis was probably the most interesting character, but of course my opinion on that changes about once every 3 months...
Since I don't watch television or read the newspaper, I have a very embarrassing question (embarrassing because I'm sure pretty much everyone else will know the answer). Is the movie out yet? If not, when does it come out? If so, has anyone seen it? Is it any good?
I liked them, mainly because I like mythology. My fave book in the series was the first one, and my least favorite was the last. I didn't get the whole "Last Olympian" thing. The feeling I got of that book was that he had a lot he wanted to include, and he knew that was his last chance, so he put it all in. It felt very disconnected.
Yes, Ima, the movie has come out. I haven't seen it BUT I get to go see it for a school trip! Squee! Since it's the whole mytholoogy thing, it fits in with our social studies. Luckily for me. Yay!

I actually really really liked it. And the movie is out, Ima, but it doesn't follow the book at all. I personally thought the movie was just... a little flat.
@Ima: The movie came out Friday, I believe. I'm seeing it next weekend, so I can't offer an opinion, but the trailers looked really good. A lot of people were annoyed at poor Chris Columbus because they aged up the characters and Annabeth's actress wasn't blond, but I'm too lazy to repost this so you can see my opinion on that if you click the CriReaRec link: http://www.cricketmagkids.com/books/56892. If you care, zat is.
If you'd like to view a trailer, I can't post an external link, but you can goodsearch (or google or ask or yahoo or your preferred search engine) "percy jackson and the olympians movie" and the first link that shows up will most likely be to the official movie website. You can then turn the sound on and watch the trailer. Yay.
Or just use IMDB, whatevah.

There were many things that bothered me about the movie. I don't think that, besides the whole "Percy Jackson is a half-blood son of Poseidon" theme, there was a singe thing that was even close to the books!! So, here is my rant. ;)
1. Annabeth had brown hair and bright blue eyes. It talks a ton about her having "blond princess-hair" and "storm-gray eyes" in the first book especially. Grr. She was a decent Annabeth, though.
2. The kids were like, 17! That totally messes up the prophecy, which the whole entire series revolves around!!! Grrr, again.
3. Right after Percy battles with Mrs. Dodds (who was their substitute english teacher in the movie!), Mr. Brunner (who I had always said brunn-er (like, runner, but with a b) but they said brune-er (like tuner, but with a b) ) is like "We have to take you to Camp Half-Blood!"
3. While Percy is driving with his mom and Grover the Minotaur hits their car, so they run to this weird thing that's like two columns and a bar across the top, and that's the entrance to camp. Then, Percy's mom can't get through the gate because she's not a Half-Blood. Then the Minotaur grabs her and squeezes her until she disappears into golden dust.
4. When Percy stabs the Minotaur with his horn, the Minotaur just groans and falls over! No turning into golden sand and blowing away, he just falls over.
5. When Percy gets there, Chiron (sp?) is like "This is your cabin that your father, Poseidon built for you." That's it, he just knows!
6. Annabeth is on the other team for capture the flag and totally beats him up and cuts him all over. Then he reaches the water and is healed and gets the flag, which makes his team win! There's no Clarisse or anything and he captures the flag and doesn't have to take it to the border where it turns colors, he just wins!
Well, I really don't have any more time to rant tonight, but I'll be back later . . . There's a whole ton more!
Gaping Plot Hole #2: Persephone DOES NOT live in the Underworld in the summer, as anyone who has read a word of Greek mythology should know. Duh Chris Columbus...

Uh huh! And why in the world did Grover stay behind?! That wasn't supposed to happen! And Annabeth had no invisibility cap and there was no Helm of Darkness!
Me likes your rant, Emma. I haven't seen it yet, but it's nice to know so I can prepare myself...you know, so I don't start crying and / or jump up and start yelling. Thanks, guys!
NO Thalia, Kronus, and Luke, like dies! Disappointing, yet mildly entertaining but maybe it's just because I loved the book that I'm defending it. And Persephone like, goes insane and stuns Hades... weird, and the plot was different. They had to find all those pearls, and my friends and I were looking forward to the scene in St. Louis but alas, there was no such scene.
O-kaay...

I agree with you ZINZ. He did try and squish everything in the book. The movie is the best and I would definitely see it again.
