Hey Everybuggy!

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Dystopian Books
Hey Everybuggy!  ...

Hey Everybuggy!

I love dystopian books, so I thought you guys might enjoy a chatterbox blab about dystopian books! Strangely enough, I couldn't find a thread about dystopian books that was already made, so here we are. I have met a lot of people who think reading dystopian books gives people a negative outlook, but I disagree. I mean, who doesn't like to read about strange or appalling post-apocalyptic alternate realities??? Anyway, I hope everybuggy enjoys my thread! I'd love to know your favorite dystopian books!

Yours,

Hi Coyote, nice to meet you! Are you new? If so, welcome to the CB! I'm Celine, she/her pronouns :) And for dystopian books, I really enjoyed Fahrenheit 451, as well as other short stories from Ray Bradbury! What books are your favorites?

Hey Celine, its good to meet you too! I am new to the CB, but I've been getting the Cricket mag for a couple years. I've been meaning to read Fahrenheit 451 forever, but still haven't gotten around to it. Personally, I really like the Hunger Games and Divergent (Although I think the first Divergent book would have been better as a stand-alone.) I also really like this book called The Town With No Mirrors. Not a lot of people have heard of it, but it's impossible to put down.

Hey! Welcome to the CB! I'm celestial_mango, or celestial, or mango, or CM or baby walrus (jk). My favorite dystopian fiction novel has got to be the Hunger Games series. It's a must read. Highly recommend 10000000/10

Another good book is The Kill Factor, though its sad, morbid, and very very dark. 12+

Sad, Morbid, and Dark?

I'll have to put it on my TBR list ;)

Hey Coyote! Great to meet you! I'm Moon Wolf, she/her, by the way!

Oh yes I love dystopian books, like the Hunger Games (though tbh I've actually only ever watched the movies), and I really love Lunar Chronicles! I would recommend it if you haven't read it (since it's pretty popular), though it is YA, by the way. The Matched series by Ally Condie is pretty good as well, though I've only read the first book so far. The Selection is also a series that is dystopian, though it is less violent or dark and more light. Oh and also The Giver by Lois Lowry is pretty good!

Feel free to give me recommendations, by the way!

Hmm, I'd recommend The Naturals, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Strictly speaking, it's not technically dystopian, but is still really good and does have some darker elements, being about a group of teenages who work in a branch of the FBI to solve cold cases. It's by the same author who wrote the Inheritence Games seiries, which you may have read because it has gotten pretty popular lately.
