Life as we
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Life as we knew it by Susan Beth Pfeffer is a well written book about a girl and her family: her siblings and Mom who are living on earth when a meteor crashes into the moon. Everyone is quite excited, and even bring out lawn chairs to view this new occurance. But it's no picnic. The closeness of the moon causes the tides to change, causing tsunamis and flash floods everywhere. The coastline dissapeared, and volcanoes are erupting because magma that was not strong enough to penetrate the surface now could because the moon is closer. Food is limited, and with everyone competing for the last bit, things get worse and worse. Written in diary format, Miranda tells her life, catastrophe after catastrophe, close to starvation and death.
I really loved the idea of this story. It's a more realistic version of the future; it's not gonna be all aliens and high-tech stuff. If you haven't read this, you should!!!!!

It sounds interesting. I usually don't like books written in diary format, actually, but there are some exceptions, and this might be one of them.
