I don't feel as strongly about it as you do, but I totally get where you're coming from.

Sophie is kind of oblivious and perfect, but what annoys me most is all the later books are just her sitting in indecision while the villians (okay why are they even being villanous, I never figured that out) could kill her and her friends multiple times over but choose not to (if they're being villanous, at least take over the world when you have a chance because YOU ARE POWERFUL ENOUGH WHO CARES ABOUT PLOT). It's all kind of... staged?

And yes I wish there was more prolonged action instead of short bursts here and there—like the 7th book is one bit of action, then they sit in the healing center for like 500 pages, then go fight again for a bit at the end before—CLIFFHANGER BOOM *evil laugh*

Also, all the characters seem kind of similar? Like really pretty and in love with lots of inner turmoil + teenager angst.

Still, I like the series okay and some of the characters are funny—I like Elwin and Ro, especially.

I agree that Sophie doesn't have much character development and honestly the same things happen over and over again. I stopped reading KOTLC at the book before Unlocked because I couldn't bear the romance. Like, Sophie rejects him and him and him...and PLEASE JUST COME TO THE END ALREADY and don't torture me with a long conversation that ends up as nothing. I couldn't stand it. As a plus, the writing style is very engaging. Not too many details, not too little details.

Sorry fans of KOTLC. This series is just NOT for me.

Little Women

I just couldn't read the whole thing! It was ok but still too old timey, even for me. ( I like history, but this was just...)

Same, sort of. I've tried to read it twice, gotten through the first half twice, and then entered the second half in which all the girls get married or die and put it down twice. I really like the characters (especially Jo) but it is very slow, and the second half especially got really preachy for me. I think part of it was that Louisa May Alcott was pressured by her publisher to marry off all her female characters, because it was the 1800s.

I dislike Artemis Fowl (I think my whole family does, actually). I got partway through the first one, but I just didn't like it and I stopped reading it. I can't remember why anymore.

Also I have this wierd association between Artemis Fowl and bad pasta because that's what I was eating at the time. So that doesn't help...

Yes!!! I read Artemis Fowl twice because everyone said it was so good and I was really trying to get into it but I just couldn't. Honestly I think it's way underrated.

I know some people don't like Little Women, but it's one of my favorite books for many reasons.

The characters, to me, develop very well and I enjoy watching them grow in ways that real people do. Louisa May Alcott was an incredible author who really knew how to make her charactres seem relatable. That's one of the reasons I like it so much.

Another reason I like it is because I see myself a lot like Jo March. I have a fiery temper that occasionally (sometimes more often than not) gets out of hand, and I enjoy being a kid/teenager. I mean, obviously, I'm not going to be playing at the park when I'm 15 or 16 years old, but I will try to stay a kid for as long as possible without making a fool of myself.

Sadly, I already feel that little kid mentality slipping away, like the thought that college is about 5 million years away...

I mean, I'm not close to being in college, not at all, but it isn't as far away as I've been hoping.

Everyone gets older. Kids think of it as a blessing, usually. But, if you're like me, you get scared sometimes of growing up.

Yeah, this is a rant now.

Um.

Sorry.

A bit too rant-y... I'm not even talking in caps anymore! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!

Uh. Echo. Relax. College isn't THAT close at all.

<Heck, when I'm an adult, I'll STILL play at the park!>

Wait, you still do? That's kinda... creepy.

EVEN I THINK THAT'S CREEPY AND I'M TEN! I MAKE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE! REMEMBER THAT OLD MAN AT THE PARK, LY?

Uh, next time, don't sneak off without me... *pats Magnolia's shoulders awkwardly*

I'm not sure how many people have heard of this series, but: Lumberjanes. I don't think I can go so far as to say I dislike it, but I think the series went on for too long and lacked new ideas after a while. I love how there are lots of fierce, relatable female characters, but there are FIVE main characters and it's just too many to have them all be interesting and unique. Their personalities kind of faded out as the series went on. The first book was AMAZING, but they quickly turned to mediocre.
